Don’t Forget to Stay Active:

As the school year comes to an end many clubs across the T-O District struggle to keep their members active over the summer. But, this is the time when members should strive to do more around the community because they tend to have less to manage during the summer months. There are many opportunities to serve at such as Feed the Kids, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and a countless number of other events. So, I encourage you, as members of our fantastic Key Club, to come out to these service opportunities. Not only is it a good alternative to watching TV or playing video games; it’s also a great way to get a jumpstart on earning hours for the new school year!

Yours Truly,

Sophia Torres- Club Editor

Officer Installation

Officer installation is an event where our past officers pass

their duties on to the newly elected officers. This ceremony was presided over by Division 39 South Lieutenant Governor Andrew Loh. It symbolized the transition from last year’s to this year’s officers through their “pinning.” The new officers have been learning their roles from their predecessors since February. As an advisor, it has been exciting to see this process of mentoring and learning. I view it as a passing on of the valuable information that has made us successful over the past year. We will always be thankful to our outgoing officers for the impact they have had on our club and development of leaders. However, I am excited to see what new ideas and spark our new officers will bring to Mansfield High School Key Club. I could not be more proud of our Key Club family.

Class Directors

This year’s Junior Class Director is Mikaela Taylor. She was, and will continue to be, and active Key Club member. We can’t wait to see how she contributes to our amazing Key Club!

The new Senior Class Director is going to be

Donald Vu. Last year he was a very active member and he

also attended this year’s DCON. We hope he will continue to be an amazing leader this year and can’t

wait for his contributions to our club.

Ella Ogbonna will be this year’s Sophomore Class Director. She will be stepping up from her

role as a general member to become a leader amongst her peers. We hope that she will make great contributions to our fantastic Key Club

this year.

Relay for life is an event wherein a community can

come together in a fun and active way to raise money for

cancer awareness. Groups of people take turns walking

around a track, while others enjoy the various activities

that take place that evening. This year, members from the

Mansfield High School Key Club, along with many others,

attended Relay for Life at Danny Jones Middle School. The

event was from noon to midnight and it included a

luminaries lighting at 9:30p.m. The total amount raised by

our community that night was over $24,000. It is truly amazing what a community can accomplish.

Feed the Kids

Come out to Feed the Kids at First Baptist Church in

Mansfield, TX this summer. It is a great way to start

earning hours for the new school year. They need help unloading and packing food

to provide meals to those students in MISD who go without food during the summer months. Please

come out on Mondays and Wednesdays to help out this

wonderful organization. -Sophia Torres
