Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Parish Community SAINT BARTHOLOMEW
Parish Office: 600 Columbia Drive, San Mateo, CA 94402
There is a good reason that the writings of St. Paul don’t show up as examples in grammar textbooks. Today’s reading is a case in point. It begins with one of those long Pauline run on sentences that leave lectors gasping for breath. So what? Take a closer look at how Paul’s fervor for his subject matter derails the grammar. There is something admirable about being so caught up in his convictions that the words cannot come fast enough to express them, much less in an orderly fashion. Scripture scholars usually take this grammatical ineptness as a sign of a passage’s early importance in the Christian communi-ty, something they were so ardent about that their lan-guage never got refined.
St. Bart’s community offers you a heartfelt send-off
on the eve of your retirement. Thank You for your
years of faithful service to the St. Bart’s Community.
You will be missed! God Bless.
WEEKLY OFFERING
Support for St. Bartholomew’s Church We encourage our parishioners to join “We
Share” (found on our web site: www.barts.org). Please call the parish office if you need help setting up an account. We can also provide Sunday enve-lopes to parishioners if that is easier—please call the Parish office at 650-347-0701. Like many or-ganizations, we are feeling the pinch of lowered weekly offerings. We really need and depend on
this support. Thank you to all of our parishioners for their generosity at this time!
