Camp is for children who have finished third grade through those who have finished eighth grade. Held at the Turtle Mountain Environmental Learn-ing Center at Lake Metigoshe State Park, the camp is a tradition for Minot Catholic churches. The theme this year is "Our Lady the Dragon Slayer" from Revelations, chapter 12. Campers will travel from Our Lady of Grace by bus, leaving the morn-ing of Sunday, July 7, and returning the evening of Tuesday, July 9. The camp includes two nights and three days of crafts, campfires, singing, games, swimming, lessons about the Good News of Jesus, skits, Mass, and more. The Serra Club of North Central North Dakota has scheduled its third annual Big Smoke—an event that benefits seminarians and others seeking a reli-
gious vocation—for July 8 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Minot. With
some changes, the format will be similar to the Big Smoke of previous years, said Michael Ruelle, club president. One change for this year’s Big Smoke: official judges will determine the winning team of meat smokers in competition with one another. There also will be a people’s choice award. Ticket prices have been set at $35 per person and $80 for a family that includes children age 16 and under. Bishop David Kagan will celebrate Mass at the event. Ruelle anticipates this year’s Big Smoke will feature eight teams, noting that the popular event will include lots of other good food and tasty deli-cacies to whet the palette of all smoked food lov-ers. More details will follow. OUR LADY OF GRACE
