The children in the Junior class went to Omakere School last Friday to take part in a gymnastics festival. They had a terrific time competing and showed great endeavour trying out new activities for many of them. They were bouncing on to the vault, balancing on the beam and showing their strength on the bars. Thanks to Miss Moody, Carla and our par- ent supporters for taking the children to the competition. On Tuesday we were lucky enough to have Black Fern rugby repre- sentative Krysten “Duffy” Cottrell cone in to School to take our Year 2-8 students for some expert rugby skills training. Duffy is a Hawke’s Bay representative player and is one of the selective few who are con- tracted to the NZRFU as a semi professional athlete. We are very grateful to her for coming out to support our students and thank Ho- riana for using her connections to organise this great opportunity. While Year 7/8 students were at Technology las week the Year 5/6 students had their own technology challenges to complete. In teams they used problem solving skills, lateral thinking and resilience to make a car that drove using wind power and a catapult. They came up with some amazing creations using the basic materials they were given . Our School values are Trust, Honesty, Respect, Inquiry, Valour and Endeavour. Our value focus for last week was Endeavour. Our stu- dents were learning to strive hard to achieve your goals. Our value fo- cus for this week is Trust. We are learning to believe in ourselves and others.
