Viking Food And Climate
• Vikings enjoyed a lot of different food and drink, even though the weather in their home in Northern Europe was very bad.
• Fish was an important part of their diet.
• They pickled the left-over fish that they did not eat in salt water to preserve it for the next time.
Cooking
• Much of a Viking woman’s time was spent cooking.
• Although they had a hole in their roof, Viking houses were always smoky.
• The Viking children’s jobs were to feed the livestock, weeding the garden and chasing the pesky birds away.
Cutlery
• Vikings only had knives to cut their food with so they mostly ate with their hands.
• Wealthy Vikings wore:• Metal helmets• Wooden shields• Chain mail shirts and an animal skin coat.• Average farmers wore:• Spear• Shield• And maybe a seax.
