Q: What is your vision for JIM? A: We aspire to imbibe quality educa- tion in our students with a systemat- ically designed curriculum to focus on their overall development. As we believe that the gap between indus- try requirements and graduates can only be bridged through holistic ef- forts which our results speak over the past decades. Q: In the current scenario of industry how does a student prepare him- self for a stable career? A: First and foremost a student needs to identify his strengths, weakness- es and skills. Secondly, he/she must be aware of the current industry trends to identify the best suited industry. There is no industry today where jobs are not available, only the need is to prepare accordingly. One must also narrow down to the func- tional areas best suited according to their skills. Last but not the least a person must have the passion to dedi- cate oneself for two years completely for their requisite development and refraining from shortcuts in life. Q: Which course is better MBA or PGDM? A: Both the courses are good depending upon the perspective from which it is being carried. Although MBA gets an edge over PGDM as far as a candidate’s pursuit for higher education (such as PhD), or for applying for most of the govt. jobs is concerned as it is a univer- sity affiliated program duly recognized by UGC & AICTE, moreover the fees charged for MBA is less than that charged for a PGDM course. Q: What is JIM’s USP as a B-School? A: Our MBA is a regular full time 2 years’ program which is duly affiliated to UPTU & AICTE approved. We offer dual specialisation in Fin/Mkt/HR/IT/ IB along with industry specialisation in Hospitality Mgt./ Rural/Retail/Project Mgt/Insurance which brings it at par with any PGDM course. JIM had been ranked as 1st amongst B-schools in Delhi NCR by Time Research 2012. Social security in terms of Wom-
en Security is a hot issue in today’s
world. Be it our India or abroad, women
security is getting worst day by day.
Women are no doubt considered as
ideologies and the world of women is
universal everywhere. In the past and in
the present they have been subordinat-
ed to men.
Certain functionaries of the soci-
ety suggest distributing knives to women
for “enhancing their personal security”
in the backdrop of recent attacks
against women. Well wishers say that
women should prefer a Rampuri (knife)
in their purse rather than a lipstick.
Is violence against women a re-
action to women’s increased presence
in politics and their economic empow-
erment, can be a question to the world.
Answer to this question, can be that vio-
lence against women could be a form
of male insecurity, a backlash because
of being unable to come to terms with
the changed role of women in politics
and economy. There could be ‘worry’
among men about institutions that were
the basis of society such as the family.
Discussing a book titled The End
of Women: And the Rise of Women by
Hanna Rosin, Ms. Rosin focused “a new
patriarchy, where women are dominat-
ing”. The book, which said that women
were surpassing men, had been much
debated in the U.S., where women
held half the jobs and were higher
in number in colleges and schools.
The book highlights “plastic wom-
en” and “cardboard men”, mean-
ing that women were flexible and
adapt to new jobs at home and
outside versus men who were less
flexible. Women lived longer than
men, went to college, and worked
better than men who were redun-
dant for reproduction. However,
one could not be led into thinking
that one was moving towards “a
feminist utopia”. Although the writ-
er sounded like a radical feminist,
there was ambiguity in the book.
For instance, single mothers in the
U.S. were more independent and
experienced less domestic vio-
lence but they bore the double
burden of managing home and
career. In reply to another query,
she said she did not agree with
viewing the issue as men versus
women. It was much more com-
plex than a battle of the genders.
However, women empow-
erment now is not absolutely ren-
dering positive social security to-
wards the women. All that is wom-
en need to securitize themselves is
through maintaining their dignity
and showing the notorious world
that ‘YES’, we have the power to
rise.
“Social Security” a burning issue today

A group discussion (GD) involves speaking before a group of people where an individual has to put in some aspect of public speaking. The GD preparation begins with the ability to speak fluently in front of others. For GD one requires to increase the knowledge and enrich the content. For group speaking, start reading a book or an editorial for around 15 minutes daily; have friendly discussions with a group; speaking in a group without being distracted by others, with relevant points.
The next aspect is the content. To enrich it one should pick up around ten current affairs (events in the past

Tips for Group discussion: behaviour, as well as, speaking in a concise manner is very important; address every-one in the group. Tips for successful GD are following: -
Organize thought process on the basis of: Political, Eco-nomic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental facts.
Interpret in various ways on the topic. Do not speak for long: Speak for maximum one to two
minutes and stop. Do not stop abruptly or keep talking. Look at someone
who appears receptive to your ideas. Listen carefully to others. Speak on a familiar topic and
take the discussion forward; generate new ideas. Do not make it a one to one discussion: encourage other
members to participate while maintaining eye contact. Utilize your leadership skills: by driving discussion in a
comfortable direction. Try to put contrary view if it goes in one direction. Do not say something when not sure. Consensus at the end: it is necessary to conclude it in a
particular direction. Last but not the least, confidence level with decent communi-cation skills helps in cracking the GD.
