O R G A N I S A T I O N SOUR GUIDING LIGHT

The Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations was founded in the year of 1960

by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to enable its members to undertake

service activities as a means to spiritual advancement. The Sathya Sai

Seva Organisations derives inspiration, guidance and strength from

Bhagawan Baba’s mission and message of propagating the truth of

man’s inherent divinity, which is proclaimed and preached by all

religions of the world.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLE - LOVE ALL, SERVE ALL

The Organisation has as its main objective selfless love and service

without any distinction of religion, nationality, race, socio-economic

status, either for those who work in the Organisation or for those who

are served by them. Thus, it transcends all barriers, leading humanity

towards the ideal of ‘Fatherhood of God and Brotherhood of Man’. In

fact, this spiritual basis enables everyone in the Organisation to

pursue his own religion better by putting its teachings into practice

by way of love and service to the God who dwells in all hearts.

The state of Jharkhand has 24 POLITICAL DISTRICTS. Prior to

November 3, 2018, only 5 of these 24 districts were Sathya Sai

Districts. However, by the abundant Grace of Bhagwan and the

sincere efforts of the entire team of office bearers, Jharkhand now

has 12 active Sathya Sai Districts, transfused with the Divine Love of

Bhagwan. It is only an understatement to say that Bhagwan has

showered enormous Blessings and Love on the state of Jharkhand in

the last two years, as has been seen through the upsurge of service,

spiritual and educare activities everywhere in the state, down to the

last village.

Three wings of the organisation which function under the banner of

SSSSO Jharkhand, are broadly - SERVICE WING (undertakes social

service activities, imparting selfless love), SPIRITUAL WING (which

caters to the individual's needs and conducts the spiritual activities),

and the EDUCATION WING (which fulfills the spiritual needs of

children, and conducts value-based classes for children, along with

value parenting programmes).

Apart from these, the state of Jharkhand is the homeland of myriad

tribes and shelters numerous remote villages, which create

opportunities for the SSSSO to conduct service, spiritual, healthcare

and educare activities.

The Youth Wing of SSSSO, Jharkhand, comprising the enthusiastic

young volunteers of the organisation, actively participates in all these

initiatives of the organisation.

WATER SEVA DURING SUMMERS

The SSSSO Jharkhand undertakes an annual activity of providing

pure drinking water at the railway stations in the various districts in

the state. Pure drinking water is a rare resource at most of the

railway stations, and several passengers, or people waiting at the

platforms have benefited from it. The sevadals participate in great

numbers from different Samithis and Bhajan Mandalis in the district,

availing this wonderful seva opportunity.

WATER AND FOOD DISTRIBUTION DURING RAMANAVAMI

Similar to the Water Seva on railway stations, the sevadals of SSSSO

Jharkhand distribute food and water, or juices, to the devotees

participating in rallies on the Holy Ramanavami Celebrations.

NARAYAN SEVA

Bhagwan Baba says, "Service to mankind is service to God."

Therefore, the beneficiaries of service are called Narayans. Narayan

Seva is a regular activity conducted in the Samithis, where food

packets are prepared by sevadals and distributed in the towns and

villages to the needy. Countless beneficiaries have received

Bhagwan's Love in the form of food, and the sevadals have got the

beautiful opportunity to serve the food they cook, suffused with the

same Divine Love for these beneficiaries.

The sevadals of SSSSO Jharkhand have paid several visits in the year

to the homes of leprosy patients, oldage homes and hospitals, in order

to serve food to those living there, and also to spend some time with

those deprived of Love. It gives immense satisfaction to the sevadals

to conduct this wonderful activity and also to the beneficiaries who

receive them with such a warm heart. It is overwhelming to see the

mutual concern and love between the sevadals and the people at these

homes.

BHAJANS & DEVOTIONAL SINGING

Every single Bhajan Mandali in SSSSO Jharkhand is actively

participating in Bhajans which are held once a week on Thursday, in

their respective Sai Centres. After the lockdown has been imposed

due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Thursday Bhajans are now

conducted on a virtual platform from the homes by the devotees.

When all the participants in a bhajan sing in unison, sacred vibrations

are produced and divine energies are released.

"It is not easy for the human mind, immersed in worldly concerns to turn to God. It is only when

the mind is transformed and brought under the control of the Soul (Atma) that the body

experiences Divine Bliss (Ananda). The means by which the mind is transformed is devotion

(Bhakti - intense love for God). Progressively, turn your mind towards God until it merges in God.

Meditation, repetition of the names of the Lord, group singing of devotional songs (bhajans),

reading of scriptures and other such activities are designed only to purify the mind so that it can

concentrate on God. As a field has to be properly ploughed and prepared for sowing so as to reap a

good harvest, the field of our heart has to be rendered pure and sacred through good and holy

actions and spiritual discipline (sadhana) if it is to yield the fruit of Divine Wisdom."

The Sai Organisation is a service organisation with a spiritual base. The

activities of its Spiritual Wing are the very foundation of its existence.

Participation in spiritual activities increases our capacities and

motivation for service, while participation in the service activities

enables us to make greater progress on our spiritual path.

READING THE BHAGVAD GITA

28 devotees have together begun to learn and chant the Bhagavad

Geeta from Monday to Friday, and the Vishnu Sahasranamam on the

weekends. The State Vedam In-Charge (Mahila) has taken this

initiative and she is herself teaching every shloka to the

participants. Twice a week, they also read and understand these

shlokas, and learn them with complete diligence. The participants

are also given the opportunity to chant these shlokas during samithi

programmes like Baba's Birthday Celebrations, Geeta Jayanti and

Youth Programmes. Reading and imbibing this sacred text has kept

the participants engaged in a wonderful study circle every day, and

has also given them a chance to understand the Ultimate Truth.

THE CEILING-ON-DESIRES SADHANA

The main goal of the Sai Organisation is to enable members,

volunteers, and office bearers to lead ideal, perfect, and happy lives.

Therefore we must live up to the high ideals of the organisation and

transform ourselves into ideal beings, thus helping others to follow

our example. This can be achieved by placing a control on our

delusions and desires, and avoiding the wastage of food, money, water,

time and energy.

The volunteers of SSSSO Jharkhand have undertaken this initiative in

this very spirit by reducing their desires, and instead of inordinately

spending for our own pleasure, they are spending for the relief of the

poor and needy.

SADHANA CAMPS

'Sadhana' is the spiritual effort the seeker puts in, derived from the

root word ‘sidhi’ which means ‘to be accomplished in seeking divinity.

Sadhana camps are organised over a period of 2 to 3 days activities

like prayer sessions, yogic exercises, Jyoti meditation, seminars,

workshops and talks, are planned to help build discipline plus

perseverance. The sadhana camps place great emphasis on individual

and character development. Such Sadhana camps have been organised

at the State and Samithi Level, and have been attended by all the keen

devotees as well as the office bearers. A new bhajan mandali was also

recognised in the State Sadhana Camp, at the Garhwa District.

Talent Hunt Programme for all age groups. There were 100

participants in the programme who performed different activities to

awaken and rejuvenate their devotion for Bhagwan. Some sang self-

composed songs, some shared soulful poetry dedicated to the Lord,

and there were others who conducted value games for everyone - all

this on a virtual platform.

Another Virtual Talent Hunt was organised by the combined efforts

of the Spiritual & Youth Wing of SSSSO Jharkhand, on the occasion of

Janmashtami, in which the participants were to sing songs or Bhajans

VEDAM CLASSES AT THE STATE LEVEL

Keeping in mind Bhagwan's Mission of propagating the importance of

Vedas. Veda classes are conducted by Vedic scholars, at various

centers which enable many people to attend. Every occasion gets

started with Vedic chants which leaves the whole place charged with

divine vibrations. The Sri Sathya Sai Veda Poshana Programs are

conducted at various places. The Sri Sathya Sai Veda Poshana Program

aims at adopting a formal and structured approach to learn, chant and

teach Veda in the Sri Sathya Sai Organization.

Currently there are 15 keen learners from all the districts

participating in this magnificent programme in the classes organised

by the Vedam Team of SSSSO Jharkhand. The classes are held once a

week on virtual platforms. All participants in this class are sincere

learners and we hope that they will emerge as Vedam trainers in their

districts They have been given the opportunity to chant Vedas during

various programmes of the state and during weekly bhajans in

samithis.

UPSURGE OF SPIRITUAL SADHANAS, AND SADHAKAS!

With the lockdown in effect from the month of March, it is miraculous to

see that the spiritual activities have constantly been on the rise, despite

every Sai Centre being nonfunctional, and virtual platforms being the only

way to meet. The Spiritual Wing of SSSSO Jharkhand, and the Mahila

Vibhag. have together taken up numerous spiritual activities to spend their

time in japa and dhyana.

95 families did the Sri Sathya Sai Vrat Kalpam, 53 ladies participated in the

Ladies' Day Celebrations and Gayatri Puja, 89 devotees participated in the

Durga Puja, 90 ladies in the Akhand Lalita Parayanam, which has been done

more than 11000 times now, and still continues, 98 devotees have taken part

in the japam of Ganapati Ashtotra Namavali.

Devotees have joined in the Parayanas of Tapovanam and Shirdi Sai

Satcharita in large numbers, till Bhagwan Baba's Birthday. Many devotees

joined in the likhit naam jap of "Aum Shri Sai Ram" and "Achyutaya namah,

Anantaya namah, Govindaya namah".

Maukhik Jap of "Samasta Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu" is still continuing.

Everyday more than 60 to 70 persons are chanting this Divine Mantra 108

times for world peace.

These activities have been taken up by the initiative of devotees

themselves, coordinated by the Spiritual Wing, and they have offered the

garlands of Namasmarana at Bhagwan's Lotus Feet. to experience self-

transformation and also, collectively pray for the world peace. The benefits

of these spiritual activities are many, and the essence is definitely inner

peace.

participating together in this pooja.

NITYA PRARTHANA

Daily chants were allocated and participants were

requested to acknowledge the completion of their day's

chants. 105 persons religiously performed the Nitya

JYOTI DHYAAN

Apart from all the other spiritual activities that the Spiritual Wing has taken

up, they have also started performing Jyoti Meditation ('Jyoti' = Light) every

day, at 5:45 am. Bhagwan Baba always emphasized on the importance of

meditation, and called the human mind a "mad monkey". Bhagwan has said

that the monkey mind needs a 'watchman'.

This practice was initiated by the Spiritual Wing of SSSSO Jharkhand, in the

month of October 2020. Several families have participated in it regularly.

They are also getting trained so that this practice continues and spreads. The

participants find it very useful and they want to start their day with this

activity.

of Bhagwan Baba's Bhagvath Vahini every 15 days. After the fortnight, a

study circle is conducted in 5 groups with 2-3 facilitators in each group.

Every session lasts for 1.5 hours.

People take active part, ask questions and also share what they have

understood. This study circle has been thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated

by all the participants, who are happy to share their views and also grateful

PLANTING THE SAPLINGS OF THE VATVRIKSH BLESSED BY BHAGWAN

By the immense Grace of Bhagawan, on the auspicious occasion of 95th

Birthday, we have successfully planted Holy Vata Vruksha saplings in the

following venues: Sri Sathya Sai Center, Chakardharpur, West Singhbhum;

Sri Sathya Sai Center, Simdega; Sri Sathya Sai Samithi, Telco, East Singhbhum

District; Sri Sathya Sai Bhajan Mandali, Dhanchatani Village, East Singhbhum

District; Khairbani (Tribal Village) under SSSVIP, East Singhbhum District.

The saplings of these plants were sent from Prasanthi Nilayam, from the

Sacred Vat Vruksha blessed by Bhagwan Baba Himself. This initiative of the

SSSSO India, was keeping in mind the fact that the Vat Vruksha will provide

shade to the saadhaka, and a beauiful place to sit and meditate. These saplings

will grow into dhyaan vrukshas, and SSSSO Jharkhand feels immensely

blessed to have these dhyaan sthals in the state. Our sevadals participated in

planting these saplings and also, one of the Village Heads (the Mukhiya) was

overjoyed that his village could be the beneficiary of this initiative.

Bhagawan says “The end of Education is Character” and

SRI SATHYA SAI BALVIKAS

The Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas is a noble movement that took roots in the

year 1968 with the founding of Sri Sathya Sai Mahila Vibhag. Swami

instructed Mahila Vibhag in 1969 to start Bal Vihars for the children

above six years of age and they were imparted education from the

content drawn from ancient scriptures with Divine guidance, through

the methodology of storytelling, enacting plays and singing Bhajans.

Bhagavan later changed the name of Bal Vihar into Balvikas in 1971,

redefining the education system created by Him as the system aiming

at the Blossoming of Human Excellence.

As time passed by, slowly and steadily the Bal Vikas Program designed

by Bhagavan for children between 6 years and 15 years of age, in three

groups, took shape and with the formation and expansion of Sri

Sathya Sai Seva Organization, Balvikas spread far and wide. Training

modules were developed, research went in deeper, and with

Bhagavan’s active and continuous guidance Balvikas was crystallized

into a 9 year non-formal education system for children enhancing

their learning to become role models in character and also in

academic performance.

The Bal Vikas is a significant catalyst in carrying out Bhagwan's

Mission of Educare, value-based education for all children.

all the SSSVJ school children came together to participate in this

event. Altogether 370 children took part.

We were blessed to have Bhagawan as our Chief Guest. Sri Ravi

Shankar Shukla (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, East Singhbhum,

Jamshedpur grace the occasion as our Guest of Honour and he gave an

inspiring speech to the assembled.

Tremendous efforts by the Balvikas Gurus as well as SSS Vidya Jyothi

volunteers made the event a Grand Success. Many of the SSSVJ School

Principals also witnessed the event. More than 500 devotees from

Jamshedpur were present during the entire programme. Sri Ravi

Shankar Shukla gave a very inspiring message to all the children and

climbed down the stage and went amidst the children. Thereafter the

programme was concluded by Mangal Aarti of Bhagawan.

A brochure on Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas as well as Sri Sathya Sai Vidya

Jyothi was released. The same was distributed amongst all present.

Since the programme was held at a very open public place, there were

many such persons who had the opportunity to witness the

programme of our organisation for the first time. There were lots of

enquires from them regarding our organisation and the activities.

This brochure was of great help in providing brief information about

Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas & Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Jyothi.
