BUDOWA present simple tense ( I ) do it / ( He ) does it. ( I ) don’t do it / ( He ) doesn’t do it. Do ( I ) do it / Does ( he ) do it?

present continuous tense ( I ) ( am ) doing it. ( I ) ( am ) not doing it. ( Am ) ( I ) doing it?

OKREŚLENIA i) present simple: • always, np.: Do you always get up so early? • usually, np.: Who usually cleans your room? • often, np.: We don’t often go to the opera. Do you? • regularly, np.: Don’t you regularly see your kids? • sometimes, np.: She sometimes phones even five or six times a day. • from time to time, np.: I only play golf from time to time. • rarely, seldom, np.: Do they seldom miss their lessons? • hardly ever, np.: We hardly ever go to sleep late. • ever, np.: Do you ever read books, Mark? It doesn’t ever snow here in October. • never, np.: What never makes you laugh? • once, np.: They broadcast such films once a week only! • twice, np.: I usually take exercise twice a day. • x times, np.: How many times a year do they have holidays? • every , np.: Jim comes here every second week, doesn’t he? ii) present continuous: • now, np.: She is listening to the radio now. • right now, np.: Why are you being so nasty right now? • just, np.: He’s just finishing his new soap opera. • at the moment, np.: What are the kids doing at the moment? • at present, np.: Who is playing with Joe Cocker at present? • still, np.: Are you still trying to pick her up?

UŻYCIE i) present simple: • prawdy ogólne, np.:

At what temperature does water freeze? • czynności o charakterze powtarzającym się, stałym, przyzwyczajenia, zwyczaje itp.,

np.: I usually wake up at six o’clock.

• opinie, przekonania, uczucia itp., np.: Doesn’t she like children?

• instrukcje, plany podróży, rozkłady czasowe itp., np.: We leave at four, arrive at the airport at four twenty and board the plane at five thirty.

• opowiadania, np.: The man is accused of killing a cop so he runs away and eventually finds out the truth.

ii) present continuous: • czynności wykonywane w chwili mówienia i przypuszczenia dotyczące takich

czynności, np.: Aren’t they reading about English grammar at the moment, do you think?

• czynności o charakterze tymczasowym, np.: We’re staying at a friend’s till we find a flat to rent.

• czynności będące w trakcie wykonywania, choć niekoniecznie w chwili mówienia, np.: Jack, are you reading anything at present?

• czynności o charakterze powtarzającym się i budzące dezaprobatę, np.: I am always forgetting to do my homework. (przy czym always możemy zastąpić constantly, continually lub forever)

• opisy w opowiadaniach, np.: We come in and what do we see? The dog’s lying on our bed!

• czynności zaplanowane na przyszłość, np.: Where are you spending this Easter holiday?
