Dear Lawson Families, Introductions It is a pleasure to introduce two of Lawson’s newest team members, Mr Andrei Wall and Mr Carl Bailey. Mr Andrei Wall has officially accepted a permanent teaching position at Lawson and will continue to teach students in CC Blue. Mr Wall brings a wealth of experience to our school and we are grateful for his successful appointment. As many of you would be aware, Mr Neil Davies has recently announced his retirement from the NSW Department of Education. Mr Davies has been a much-loved community and team member. He served NSW Education in a number of different roles including teacher support and, more recently as our GA (Grounds and Maintenance). I would like to personally thank Mr Davies for his long-standing commitment to the students, staff and Community of Lawson Public School and wish him well for a long, relaxing and well-deserved retirement. While Mr Davies has vacated his position, we can announce that Mr Carl Bailey will be joining the team. Great to have him on board! Safety Concern Student safety is core business. We would like to seek parent and community support in keeping our students safe during school arrival/departure. Certainly, our team will be working to do the same. Capability Class entrance – When arriving to the capability classes, we will be asking parents and visitors to enter the undercover area via the gate that is immediately next to the building. We will be placing signage on the wider gate located next to the garden shed/stage 3 building to discourage anyone using it during arrival/departure times. This will help keep an added layer of gates to keep children safe. Thank you in advance! Zone Cross Country We would like to wish Isla S and Tommy E the very best of luck today, both of these students are representing Blue Mountains PSSA and Lawson Public School in the Sydney West PSSA Cross Country Championship. Congratulations to you both on reaching this level of the competition, what an outstanding achievement. Dear Lawson Families,

Introductions It is a pleasure to introduce two of Lawson’s newest team members, Mr Andrei Wall and Mr Carl Bailey.

Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend I would like to wish you all a happy and safe long weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on your return on Tuesday 15 June.

Reminder regarding “Anaphylaxis Action Plans” These need to be updated at the beginning of each school year by your Doctor. Please ensure your child’s updated Epi-pens and action plans are provided to the office as a matter of urgency. For students with Asthma, please ensure we have an updated action plan and Ventolin that is in date, as some inhalers may expire during the year.

Permission Notes When returning permission notes for school activities it is a legal requirement to return a SEPARATE permission note for each child. If you pay online it is still necessary to return the permission note to the office. In addition, if returning multiple notes for more than one child/activity, there is no need to put each note into a separate envelope. We are able to process multiple payments for multiple activities/children in the one transaction. Please ensure your child/s full name and class are on the permission note. Please send your order to the school office with the correct cash or a cheque made payable to Lawson Public School P&C Association. 2015 – 2018 Year Books for Sale We have a small number of School Year Books for Sale, ranging from 2015 to 2018. Can you volunteer? We need your help with the School Banking program!

Our students really enjoy participating in the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program and to keep this program running we need your help.

The program requires a volunteer School Banking Co-ordinator to facilitate the banking and distribution of School Banking rewards. The School Banking is processed at the same time each week and will only take a small amount of your time .The Commonwealth Bank will provide support in how to run the program. Your help with the program will greatly benefit students as they practice saving skills and also help our school with fundraising.

As part of volunteering you are eligible to receive a Certificate of Attainment that details the activities that you are involved in. For example: cash handling, program facilitation, account reconciliation and more.

Currently, School Banking day is Thursday, however changes to the day can be discussed based on the volunteer’s availability.

If you are interested in volunteering for the School Banking program, please fill in the tear off section below and return it to the office ASAP.

Yes, I would like to help with School Banking!

In science lessons, Lime has

been exploring the weather

and how we protect ourselves

from it.

We have been working in

groups to build the perfect

shelter for our teddy bear.

We designed a home to

protect him from the sun,

wind, rain and snow.

Teddy was very happy with his

new homes.
