  • 1. Pure psychic automatism, by which an attempt is made to express, either verbally, in writing or in any other manner, the true functioning of thought. The dictation of thought, in the absence of all control by the reason, excluding any aesthetic or moral preoccupation. Andre Breton

2. Dada began in Zurich, Switzerland in 1916, spreading to Berlin shortly thereafter. The absurdity of Dada activities created a mirror of the absurdity in the world around them. Dada was anti-aesthetic, anti-rational and anti-idealistic. Surrealist works were bound up with the psychoanalytical theories of Sigmund Freud relating to the irrational and instinctual drives of the unconscious. 3. Andr Breton was a French writer and poet. He is known best as the founder of Surrealism. 19 February 1896 28 September 1966 Breton was a major member of the Dada group and the founder of Surrealism. He was dedicated to avant-garde art-making and was known for his ability to unite disparate artists through printed matter and curatorial pursuits. Breton drafted the Surrealist Manifesto in 1924, deeply affecting the methodology and origins of Abstract Expressionism. His aim was to gather all the information possible related to forms that might express the unconscious activity of the mind. 4. Was born in Zolochiv, Ukraine (1986) Developed a desire to take photographs since he was 8 years old His aim is to look for reality in his own way, creating surreal moments His work mainly consists of illusion photography, e.g. A woman holding up two fish in a way that her eyes are replaced with the fishs Now he lives and works in Vienna, Aunstria 5. Was born in France (1978) He was raised by a revolutionary militant family, lovers of the Surrealism, Cinema, Jazz, Blues and Folk music When he got his first camera he started taking pictures just for the fun of it He is now a portrait photographer as he always works around the personality, the inner world and the own fantasies of his models The ideas for his photographs come from a mix between improvisation, my feelings of the moment, my sensations toward the models... and a personal culture, mythology made of artistic, cinematographic, musical references, etc. 6. Based in Los Angeles He discovered photography at the age of 13 under the guidance of his father (photo instrumentation engineer) His ideas are conjured-up by my dreams and desires of what life could be He was recognized repeatedly throughout his 22 year career for his work's enduring (and endearing) use of metaphor and hand crafted, trick-of-the-eye elements He is now an editorial and advertising photographer who creates imagery that applies to both art and commerce
