Description of the company 3

Arihant Apparels set up in January 2013, deals with distribution of all types of readymade garments right from bows, ties to blazers from the manufacturers to retailers .

The company is situated at Arun Prakash Mansion,Bhangagarh,Guwahati. The company has the rights of distribution for over 20 brands across the North-East. The ownership of this company is a sole proprietor. The company has twenty-one employees, they are organized into accounts

department , warehouse department and sales department. The accounts department does all the billing , journalizing and posting work, the

warehouse department is responsible for the allotments made, checking the stock and dispatching them and the sales department mainly focuses on increasing the sales of the company,collecting payments and doing door to door bookings from the retailers,

All my activities were supervised and controlled by Mr. Kalyan Deb. I was responsible for all the inputs (information of goods being

returned , damaged goods or goods wrongly delivered) coming forward from the retailers .

He gave me detailing about the firm’s account in various banks and their cash transactions.

Overall Management was described by Mr. Debu Paul and his team. Basically, garments come from various manufacturers and then it

is segregated in accordance with the orders received from those retailers and sent to their doorsteps.

The Accounting method(Accounting standards and principles) followed is GAAP.

Majorly, E-mail and telecommunication were used as way of communication.

I gained knowledge on how to maintain various cash bank ledger accounts.

I learned about the human resources employed in various sectors to improvise the sale agenda and thereby recreating the payment paradigm.

I learnt for how to use the software which maintains records of stock, pending orders, pending payments and the orders in transit.

I also helped in allocating the goods to various retailers. I learnt about the terms and conditions with the manufacturers, the

trade discount on the goods supplied to retailers, the commission for distributors,

I also gained a lot of practical knowledge about how accounting works in real life businesses.

I learnt how samples are showcased in systematic manner to clarify the details and the type of clothes that would coming in the forthcoming seasons.
