Examples of internet crime would be, spam, fraud, harassment, threats, drug trafficking and cyber terrorisms are some of many crimes used on the internet.

someone hacks into a telephone line or cell phone, this is known as wiretapping.

group of cyber criminals hacked into the Downingtown school district's bank account and stole $665,000.

The money was returned to the account a few weeks later.

Why do people think these activities are not internet crimes.

Some ways are to not download anything on the internet, and remember to update security for your network/computer.
