War• War is a behavior pattern of organized

violent conflict, typified by extreme aggression, societal disruption, and high morality. This behavior pattern is found in many primate species, including humans.

• Wars are as old as the development of the first civilizations.

• Dating to as early as 12,000 years ago One half of the people found in a Nubian cemetery had died of Violence.

• The causes for war are endless but can be generalized into three categories.– Political– Economical– Religious

• As the World advances technologically, the Wars become more deadly with deadlier weapons.

• Throughout History, every Nation’s goal has been to wield the strongest weapon to have power over other Nations.

The Aztecs

• The Aztec people were certain ethnic groups of central Mexico.

• dominated large parts of Mesoamerica in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries

• The Aztec armed forces were composed of mostly commoners with only basic military training. and a smaller number of professional warriors who belonged to nobility and organized into warrior societies with ranks according to their achievements.

• The Aztec state was centered around political expansion.

• Warfare was the basic dynamic force in Aztec politics.

• Every Aztec male received basic military training from an early age and the only possibility of going higher in society was through military achievement.

• The sacrifice of war captives was an important part of many of the Aztec religious festivals.

• Warfare was thus the main driving force of both the Aztec economy and religion.
