Science Fairs

• National Taiwan Science Education Center organizes National Primary & High School Science Fair (NPHSSF) and Taiwan International Science Fair (TISF)

• Most funding comes from the government, also received funding from Intel, KT Lee Foundation for science & technology, GFC & TDK Corporation

• 183 students, 121 projects from 11 countries participating at 2009 TISF

Science Fairs Biggest obstacles

1. Insufficient government support & funding2. Good quality of projects, involve research &

experimentation3. Low participants ratio compared to the

populations of students4. Schools focus on academic performance &

exams, in general teaching practices do not support project based learning
