CHALLENGE

The greatest challenge of our time is to create a world where all citizens live in dignity and peace in a hospitable environment. Achieving this will require particular focus on the role of science.

Until and unless science is not ingrained in the society, the dream of science and technological development leading to self reliance simply cannot be realized.

EXHIBITION: “EXPERIENCING MATHEMATICS”

Pakistan Science Foundation organizes a unique exhibition entitled “Experiencing Mathematics”, designed by a team led by UNESCO and is being arranged with the cooperation of French Embassy in Pakistan. The Exhibition began its world tour in July 2004.

The exhibition is aimed to show that mathematics is not only indispensable to daily life but can also be fun, and not a burden to learn but fascinating and easy to understand if taught properly.

“Experiencing Mathematics” not only targets children and youth between the ages of 12 and 20, but also their parents and teachers.

PSF-INTEL Education JOINT VENTURES The role of teachers and mentors is very important as they provide

guidance to the students how to select research topic, develop research methodology, collect reference material and finally how to prepare their project report and present at the Science Olympiad. Science Teachers Training are being Jointly organized by Pakistan Science Foundation and Intel Education, Pakistan.

To facilitate students who wish to participate in the Olympiad, Pakistan Science Foundation has initiated a research support program to provide financial help to the students who wish to participate in Science Olympiad.

PSF also arranges Cash Awards for the winners at the Intel National Science Fair through its Science Promotion Program.

PSF and Intel ISEF are working together to establish 500 science clubs in schools across the country. This will help in creating a scientific culture in the schools and thus improve the quality of research projects participating in Science fairs in Pakistan.

PSF through its Scientific and Technological Information Centre provide S&T Documents Delivery Service, Literature Surveys/ Off-line & On-line database searches
