1.0 Facility Information Summary
Facility Information Summary AER Reporting Year 2012 Licence Register Number P0207-03 Name of site Intel Ireland Ltd. Site Location Collinstown Industrial Park,
Leixlip, County Kildare, Ireland
NACE Code 2611 Class/Classes of Activity Principal Activity:
13.2 The Manufacture of integrated circuits and printed circuit boards. Related Activities: 2.1 The operation of combustion installations with a rated thermal input equal to or greater than 50MW. 12.2.1 The surface treatment of products using organic solvents, in particular for coating, cleaning, with a consumption capacity of more than 200 tonnes per year.
National Grid Reference (6E, 6 N) 298310E, 236940N A description of the activities/processes at the site for the reporting year. This should include information such as production increases or decreases on site, any infrastructural changes, environmental performance which was measured during the reporting year and an overview of compliance with your licence listing all exceedances of licence limits (where applicable) and what they relate to e.g. air, water, noise.
In 2012, Intel Ireland consisted of one manufacturing facility on site Fab 24 (Fab 24 and Fab 24-2). Fab 24 manufactures single and mutli-core microprocessors. There are two manufacturing processes, 90nm which is in production since 2004 and 65nm which started in 2006. Fab 14 ceased manufacturing in 2009. The purpose of the shutdown of Fab 14 was to position the facility for potential future conversion and reuse. Fab 10 ceased manufacturing in Q2 2011. The purpose of the decommissioning work is to position the Fab 10 facility for future conversion and reuse. Intel Ireland did not receive any non compliances issued by the EPA in 2012. Details of incidents and complaints can be found on our incident reporting sheet.
Declaration All the data and information presented in this report has been checked and certified as being accurate. The quality of the information is assured to meet licence requirements.

Year 2012
Additional information 1 Does your site have licensed air emissions? If yes
please complete table A1 and A2 below for the current reporting year and answer further questions. If you do not have licenced emissions and do not complete a solvent management plan (table A4 and A5) you do not need to complete the tables
Yes
2.1 Periodic/Non-Continuous Monitoring
2 Are there any results in breach of licence requirements? If yes please provide brief details in the comment section of TableA1 below
No Investigative pilot testing using different monitoring methods showed some results above the ELV. However, there was no environmental impact as a result of this.
3 Was all monitoring carried out in accordance with EPA guidance note AG2 and using the basic air monitoring checklist?

3.0 Water/Wastewater Monitoring Summary
AER Monitoring returns summary template-WATER/WASTEWATER(SEWER)
Lic No: P0207-03
Year 2012
Does your site have licensed emissions direct to surface water or direct to sewer? If yes please complete table W2 and W3 below for the current reporting year and answer further questions. If you do not have licenced emissions you only need to complete table W1 and or W2 for surface water analysis and visual inspections
Yes Table 3 - 1) Measured values (concentrations) are based on an average of weekly samples except for surfacewater metals which are based on bi-annual results. 2) Following on from the EPA recommendation we have taken all results less than the limit of detection to be equal to half the limit of detection. Previously we took results at the LOD to be equal to the LOD. 3) For the purposes of the 2011 Annual Environmental Report (as per previous AER's) and the Pollutants Release and Transfer Register (PRTR), Intel Ireland has calculated the annual average wastewater mass emissions of the incoming ‘City Water’ and subtracted this from the annual Intel Ireland wastewater mass emissions. A submission to the Agency regarding the modification to the mass calculation method was submitted on the 15th of March 2005. Where the incoming mass emission has been greater than or equal to the wastewater mass emission the cell has been left blank.
Was it a requirement of your licence to carry out visual inspections on any surface water discharges or watercourses on or near your site? If yes please complete table W2 below summarising only any evidence of contamination noted during visual inspections

To track fluoride emissions in wastewater
Track fluoride emissions to sewer against our commitment to the EPA (letter dated 5th December 2007) to reduce fluoride emissions (normalised per wafer) for future technologies.
Ongoing Ongoing Environmental Engineer
Emissions Tracking
Additional improvements (Air Emissions)
Conduct pilot testing to determine most suitable operating parameters and monitoring methods for the acid gas scrubbers.
100 A condensed pilot programme was carried out and the results were presented to the EPA. Based on test results, Intel received agreement from the Agency on the proposed monitoring method for total fluoride and reduction of the monitoring frequency of HF to zero under the current IPPCL
Environmental Engineer
Increased compliance with licence conditions
Additional improvements (Air Emissions)
Review ambient method for total fluoride and agree with EPA.
100 The ambient method was reviewed and found to be appropriate. A description of this method was submitted to the Agency on the 13th February 2012.

Additional improvements (Air Emissions)
Intel will investigate the feasibility of routing the CEMS gas via the sampling probes to the TOC and combustion gas analysers for checking the entire sampling system.
In progress
Project reached detailed design stage. However, due to plans to move the continuous analysers in Fab 24 for safety reasons, this is not feasible at the current location. This will be included in the project scope for moving the analysers to the new location.
Environmental Engineer
Increased compliance with licence conditions
Additional improvements (Air Emissions)
Ensure the TOC analyser is modified so that each channel can be selected to enable a comparison of the CEMS emission results with periodic monitoring results.
100 The TOC analyser was modified to enable selection of a single channel for comparison against periodic monitoring.

Recycle 80% of our chemical waste in line with Intel Corporation.
100 We achieved a 73% recycling rate of our chemical waste for the year of 2012. We did not reach our goal of 80% and this is due to the impact from our Fab 24 deinstalltion works. Recovery of Calcium Fluoride filter cake in K+S salt mines in Germany is being investigated.
