Participants will be introduced to sample multidisciplinary curriculum units that align with specialization topics within engineering, such as green buildings, robotics and circuit design. The session also will discuss how teams can collaborate to develop their own integrated units. Come and see projects from Scotlandville AOE, Baton Rouge, LA; North Miami High School AOE, Miami, FL; Northwest Career and Technical Academy, Las Vegas, NV; and Patrick Henry High School AOE, San Diego, CA.

Green Design Unit Overview• Subunit 1: World in Balance – This subunit introduces the

unit and deeply explores issues driving the need to “green” the architecture and building trades

• Subunit 2: Project Planning – Students research factors important to building design and reconcile client wishes with project parameters

• Subunit 3: Going Green – These lessons provide students with large view of responsibility regarding resource management and also information on how to improve the performance of their final building design

Curt Carlson, the lead project designer for the NWCTA campus, from SH Architecture spoke to the class on the existing structure and why it is a LEAD certified building. He also gave several hints and key points to focus on for the design.

5. DesignStudents worked in pairs to design a lab that had both computers for the design and a shop for the fabrication of engineering projects.
