Teaching and Program StructureEach academic year is divided into two terms (the Fall semester, from September to January, and the Spring semester, from Februaryto June). Courses last one semester and exams are generally dividedinto two parts (with partial exams): this helps you keep up withyour studies. On average, class groups are made up of around 100 students, and later in the program courses become more and more interac-

tive with small group work, research and presentations assignedperiodically. This gives classmates the opportunity to have a directrelationship with the faculty and other students in the program.Lectures are also generally held either in the morning or the after-noon, allowing time for individual study and group projects dur-ing the rest of the day. Attendance is not compulsory but it isstrongly advised.

The study plan includes:• Compulsory courses• Elective courses (chosen by the student)• Two EU languages (compulsory for all programs)• Computer Skills* • A final paper

Each course is assigned a given number of credits, as you can see onthe study plan of each program. One credit point corresponds to anaverage of 25 hours of work, divided as follows: 8-10 hours ofclassroom activities (lectures, exercises and seminars) and 15 hoursof individual study.

Foreign Languages All Bocconi BSc programs require students to study two compul-sory foreign languages. Students attending BSc programs taughtin English can choose as their first foreign language either Englishor another EU language including French, German, Italian, Por-tuguese and Spanish. The first language course takes place duringthe first year, while the second language course will be completedduring the second year of study. Students may choose from amongFrench, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish as their secondforeign language. Italian language is compulsory for non Italian mother tongue stu-dents (as first or second language).Regular foreign language exams may be replaced with a valid in-ternational foreign language certificate, duly recognized by Boc-coni, which will be assigned a grade. Our Language Center also offers extracurricular language andculture courses in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese andRussian. We were fascinated by it all and indue course, thanks in part to the mixed classes with localstudents, we integrated and made friends. From an academic point of view, it was a very challenging year.We explored very different areas, from operations managementto statistics to IT systems. Particularly interesting was thecourse specifically addressed to us, Understanding Business inAsia, as well as the Chinese language exam. The year was alsoenriched by guest speakers from the local business and financecommunity, a study tour in Tokyo, company visits in Hong Kong,a beautiful and fun city.Sofia G. (Italy)
