Motivation for ATTRACT

Understand how engineering professionals are viewed in different European countries;

Compare different student recruitment systems and analyse their results;

Identify new ways of attracting students for: science and technology; IST;

Improve student learning experiences and outcomes.

Recruitment of students

Students are recruited for public HE through a national contest;

Changes in secondary education (general vs vocational) tend to reduce the number of candidates with usual access qualifications;

From 2012/2013, all candidates to engineering programmes must have completed Mathematics at 12th year level (this has always been a requirement at IST, but not in all HEIs).
