Planning and Reference Fact Book
2020
Office of Institutional Research http://institutional-research.cofc.edu/
The College of Charleston Planning and Reference Fact Book is published annually by the Office of Institutional Research. It includes institutional facts and figures compiled from the past and previous academic years. Although it contains a great deal of quantitative information, there is no way it can adequately reflect the unprecedented events and challenges that have unfolded since the last time we produced this document. We inaugurated our 23rd president (https://inauguration.cofc.edu/), celebrated the 250th year of our founding (https://250.cofc.edu/) and approved a new strategic plan (http://www.cofc.edu/strategicplan/).
While we had many opportunities to celebrate together, we ended the academic year in a very different manner because of the challenges presented by a global pandemic (http://cofc.edu/covid19/.) “Normal” has been redefined. People are operating remotely in a virtual environment - no longer held together physically, but still acting in unison. The Fact Book is an example of the combined efforts of many areas on campus coming together to provide the same quality of information as always. The only change this year is that the Fact Book will be printed in very limited quantities.
In closing, we hope that you’ll find all the information you need in the Fact Book. If you need additional or different information, please go to our website (http://institutionalresearch.cofc.edu) or contact us directly ([email protected]). Although the staff of the Office of Institutional Research does its best to provide the information that is required to support data-informed decision-making, the events of this past year have reminded us of Albert Einstein’s adage: “Not everything that can be counted counts and not everything that counts can be counted.”
