It has become a major global crisis and has adversely affected every aspect of human life. Successively, four lockdowns have been imposed by the government in the country. Still there is no sign of the pandemic abating. It appears that we have to live with this uncertainty for some more time. Therefore, we must be prepared to combat this pandemic. The last few days haven’t been easy for anyone. The turn of events have reinforced certain human values within us: kindness, empathy, compassion, gratitude, resilience and most importantly self-sufficiency. There have been significant reformations in the educational platform. The lockdown has digitized the system of education. Dynamic ways like e-learning, online examination, webinars, virtual labs etc. have been adopted for a free flow in imparting education. Even the most advanced nations like America, Italy, Germany, Spain etc have failed to control the pandemic. The corona positive cases and the lockdowns are concurrently increasing. No vaccine has been invented yet and there is no medicine for the disease. So, we have to live with it for an unspecified period of time. We have to take the bull by the horns. The safety and wellbeing of everyone is of paramount importance. I hope that all the members of the synergy family stay safe and abide by the government guidelines to tide over the crisis. Certainly, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Jai Hind

COVID-19 THE PANDEMIC

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has staggered the world. Ithas become a major global crisis and has adversely affected everyaspect of human life. Successively, four lockdowns have beenimposed by the government in the country. Still there is no sign ofthe pandemic abating. It appears that we have to live with thisuncertainty for some more time. Therefore, we must be prepared tocombat this pandemic.

The last few days haven’t been easy for anyone. The turn of eventshave reinforced certain human values within us: kindness, empathy,compassion, gratitude, resilience and most importantly self-sufficiency.

There have been significant reformations in the educational platform. The lockdown has digitized the system ofeducation. Dynamic ways like e-learning, online examination, webinars, virtual labs etc. have been adopted for a freeflow in imparting education.Even the most advanced nations like America, Italy, Germany, Spain etc have failed to control the pandemic. National Seminar on “Recent Advancement in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Techniques”was organized by the Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering on 22nd January2020 sponsored by TEQIP-III, BPUT, Odisha. Dr Tapas Kumar Patra, CET, Bhubaneswar, Dr HarishSahoo, VSSUT, Burla, Dr Jitendra Kumar Das KIIT, Bhubaneswar, Dr B.K.Mishra GIET, Gunupur &Ms Ritu Maity CTTC, Bhubaneswar, chaired and inaugurated the seminar.

The Department of Chemistry, Synergy, Dhenkanal conducted TEQIP-III BPUT sponsored one-dayNational Seminar on Treatment & Utilization of Industrial & Mining waste For Sustainable Environment(TUIMW-2020) on February 24,2020. In the seminar, the Chief Guest, Dr. Nigamananda Dash (UtkalUniversity) discussed about wide range of waste management techniques. The Guest of honour DrBiswa Bandita Kar (Dean, R&D KIIT University) laid emphasis on the innovative techniques to dealwith the management of waste. Eminent scientists from IMMT-CSIR Dr. B. C. Tripathy, Dr. S. M.Mustakim & Dr. B. H. Rao (IIT, BBSR) delivered their talk as keynote speakers & laid emphasis onWaste Management. The Seminar was inaugurated by the Principal Dr. I. Mohanty in the presence ofDr. S. K. Dash (HOD, Chemistry), Er A. K. Sahu (Trustee), Mr R. P. Nayak(Co-ordinator) , Guest and Delegates.

Faculty Development Programme on“Advance of MechanicalEngineering” at Synergy, Bhubaneswar

National Seminar on “Treatment & Utilization of Industrial& Mining Waste for Sustainable Environment” at Synergy,Dhenkanal

A five day Faculty Development Program was organized by the department of Computer Science andEngineering of Synergy Institute of Technology, Phulnakhara on “Recent Deployment Strategies inthe Wireless Sensor Network” from 21/02/2020 to 25/02/2020. The Chief guest of the program was Dr.R.N.Behera ex-director NIC, Odisha. The sessions were chaired by various resource persons namelyDr. Pabitra mohan Khillar (NIT, RKL) Dr. Arunashu Mohapatra (VSUT, BURLA) Dr. Jibitesh Mishra(CET, BBSR) and Dr. Suvendu Rup (IIIT, BBSR). The program ended with a vote of thanks byBiswaranjan Sarangi(HOD, CSE).

Faculty Development Programme on “Recent Deployment Strategies in the WirelessSensor Network” at Synergy, Bhubaneswar

The department of Mechanical Engineering of Synergy Institute of Technology, Phulnakhara organizeda Faculty Development Program on “Advances of Mechanical Engineering” from 11/02/2020 to 15/02/2020 under TEQIP-III, BPUT, Odisha.The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Sudhansu SekharSahoo (CET, Bhubaneswar) and Mr. Swadesh Bhusan Mishra (CTTC, Bhubaneswar)along withDr.Jogeswari Rout (Principal), Prof.Chitrasen Jagatdeo (Director Admin.) and Prof.Ramakant Behuria(H.O.D, Mechanical) of Synergy Institute of Technology, Phulnakhara. The resource persons whoaddressed the subsequent sessions were Prof. Dr. Sudhansu Sekhar Sahoo, CET, Bhubaneswar, Prof.Dr. A. K Rout, KIIT, Bhubaneswar, Prof (Dr.) S.R. A TEQIP-III, BPUT sponsored National seminar on “Smart Grid and Green Energy Technology”during from19/02/2020 to 20/02/2020 was organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering .Prof (Dr) Ganapati Panda, Director of research, CVREC, Bhubaneswar and fromer Deputy Director,IIT Bhubaneswar was the Chief Guest Prof (Dr) L.N Tripathy, CET , Bhubaneswar and Prof (Dr) P.KRay, CET , Bhubaneswar were the Chief Speakers in the seminar. On 2nd day Dr. Arnab Ghosh, Asst.Prof NIT, Rourkela and Er Etishree Dalei, Asst. manager Meramandali Grid, OPTCL were the speakers.Delegates from Shakti Sugar Ltd, Dhenkanal and from other Engineering College of Odisha participatedin the programme.

The theme of InternationalWomen's Day 2020 was "I am Generation Equality: RealizingWomen's Rights”. She campaign theme for InternationalWomen's Day 2020 was Each for Equal. A healthy interactivesession session took place among eminent speakers,faculties and students.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, SynergyInstitute of Technology, Phulnakhara celebrated it on 07/03/20 by hosting IPS officer Ms. Sagarika Nath as the ChiefGuest. International Women’s Day Celebration at Delhi Public School, Dhenkanal

Delhi Public School, Dhenkanal celebrated the 71st Republic Day with pomp and show in its premises. Allthe students assembled in the school ground at 7:00 am. Thereafter Principal, Mr. Jagneswar Bora arrivedand unfurled the national flag. This was followed by our National Anthem sung by a team of students.Then the children conducted march-past which intensified the grandeur and solemnity of the occasion.Everyone pledged to uphold the honor, integrity, dignity and uniqueness of our nation. It was a proudmoment for DPS Dhenkanal when the NCC Girls got 1st prize and Cultural team of DPS got 2nd prize. All theawardees received the prizes from Honorable Minister Mr. Ashok Chandra Panda at Dhenkanal stadium.

DPS Dhenkanal celebrated the International Women’s Day in its school auditorium on 6th March, twodays prior to the said day (8th March).A wonderful programme was organized on the occasion with greatvigour to felicitate the woman employees of the institution. The programme started with invocation of thealmighty by lighting the lamp with sacred veda chanting. The theme of the celebration was “GenderEquality”. Teachers both women and men put their views regarding the importance of women in thefamily, society and nation through their valuable speech. It was remarked that both men and women asthe two sides of the same coin. Both are inter-dependent on each other and responsible for each other’sgrowth..Both of them are have individual identity and they both are unique in their own ways. A Womanis an inseparable part of the society.

A farewell party was organised in the school premises where all the students of both class XI and XII .Class XII students received a warm welcome by the juniors putting Tilak and showering flowers on themas they entered wearing elegant attires.Mr Jagneswar Bora, Principal DPS Dhenkanal inaugurated theprogramme by lighting the sacred lamp. Seventy students of class XII also llit diyas, as a symbol of theirsuccess and courage.The lighting of the lamp was then followed by a cultural programme. The juniorscreated an ambience of zest and fervour for the seniors to make their last day in the school memorable.Further the flashback memories captured in the camera was displayed on the screen, which made everyonenostalgic.The teachers congratulated them for being the 1st batch of representatives of class XII andpraised the students for their extraordinary achievement and discipline.The teachers also wished them good luck for their bright future. Students of Class XI alsoplayed a drama and bid goodbye. song which again created an ambiance full with emotions.The Principal, Mr. J.
