INITIAL PLANNING FOR A MUSIC

MAGAZINE

TARGET AUDIENCE Mostly Female, but appeal to males as well.

I will make the age range between 18-25 as revealed in my survey they would prefer younger artist who they can relate to.

STYLE, GENRE & TYPE OF MUSIC

My artist/band will take on a modern form of street chic. This is a massive trend within London and amongst my target audience. This will appeal to men as they are able to adapt the style easily and feel cool. Women of my target audience will find this attractive as it is very trendy in this moment of time.their style is important to the target audience as shown in the survey.

In the music magazine survey I carried I found that rap/hip hop, indie/alternative and r&b/pop is the most popular genres amongst my target audience so I will base my genre on my findings.

I will vary the type of music within my music magazine to atract secondary audiences, but the magazine will be known for having the styles of music above.

THE MAGAZINE According to my survey, it would make sense to bring out the magazine monthly, as it would create a more substantial magazine, filled with more detail and you would have to pay less expenses on magazines.

When doing the survey my target audience wanted to pay between £0-£1.50, however this will not work if they want to have a magazine come out monthly. They would have to pay for the second most popular option which is between £1.55-£3.00.

I would pick a glossy magazine like Q or VIBE, because they are all about the look and style of they the artists and their music. Based on my survey, my target audience are mostly interested on this.
