E-­‐books  are  at  an  early  stage  •  August  

o   Amazon  launched  Kindle  store  in  India  and  partnered  with  a  distributor  to  sell  Kindle.  It  also  opened  up  Kindle  direct  publishing  for  India.  

•  September  o  Micromax  launched  Funbook  Infinity  with  digital  content  from  McGrawHill,  

Everonn,  Pearson  and  VriS.  Other  brands  launched  similar  tablets.    o  Leading  offline  retailer,  Landmark  launched  e-­‐books  on  its  online  store  with  

about  50  categories.  •  October  

o   Amar  Chitra  Katha  said  its  going  digital.  It  launched  its  iPhone  app  and  is  planning  to  launch  a  device  agnosSc  plaWorm.    

•  November  o   Flipkart  started  selling  E-­‐books  through  Flyte,  its  digital  store.    o  UK  Publisher  Pearson  launched  bundled  educaSon  in  tablets  in  India

NBW  Poll  shows    •  45%  prefer  physical  copies  ONLY.

An  Internet  explosion  is  in  the  making

•  Top  official  Sam  Pitroda  hosts  press  conference  on  Twiker  for  the  first  Sme.    •  Startup  Village  in  Kerala  gets  1  GBPS  Internet  connecSon  to  become  the  first  to  

have  Internet  this  fast.
