We ‘Felt’:
• We are habituated of using plastics in our day to day life. It may due to our ignorance or due to our avoidance. But as a whole it disturbs our eco-system.
• We felt, this platform given by joy for giving can be a real start to initiate a step towards an eco-friendly environment. We can create awareness on replacing plastic bags with various options like paper bags by involving the community.
• ‘A plastic free environment’.
• Promoting paper bags and decreasing the use of Plastic as possible.
We ‘Imagined’:
• Awareness on benefits of using paper bags, consequences of using plastic bags.
• Other option to avoid plastics Bags.
• Door to door Campaign and discussion with villagers.
• Make them aware about benefits of using paper bags rather than plastics.
• Put our hands together for cleaning common place of the villagers, and instantiate a step towards Eco-friendly environment.
We ‘Did’:
• Street play performed by the students in the village.
• Students and teachers dig out Plastic waste .
• Community people have understood the benefits of using paper bags and avoid using plastic bags.
• Community members involved and contributed their efforts to clean the common places to make a plastic free environment.
• All of the participants in our joy for giving campaign have signed on the common memorandum and took oath to use paper bags and support eco-friendly environment.
Impact on Community:
• We have promised not to promote plastic bags as individual can make a big movement.
• Children feel proud to be a part of this campaign and become change agents in the community.
• Staff members gained the confidence to deal with community problems which is totally different from daily class room teaching.
• They are curious to do such activity in near future and willing to do something different from their daily routine work.
Impact on Us:
Experience of Community Members & Teachers:
• Community members: - ”Plastic ke bina aksar dikkat hoti thi,
khas tor pe jab bazaar se kuchh lana ho, lekin school ke bachho ne hame iske nuksanon ke bare me bataya to uske baad to ab plastic bag ke istemal se dar lagta hai. Dukan se saman kagaj ya kapde ke bag main bhi laya ja sakta hai. Isse hamara parivesh aur paltu jivon ko nuksan nahi hoga.”

• Teachers: - ”Plastic ke bag hatao, kagaj ke lifafe apnao.” Ye naara agar sahi maino main hum aur hamare aas paas rahne wale apna le to ek naya paribartan laya ja sakta hai. Iske liye hame hi suruat karni padegi”.
