VOLUME 5 May 2017 Inauguration of Underground (Green Line) Metro Rail Services from Thirumangalam to Nehru Park on 14.05.2017 The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and Hon'ble Union Minister of Urban Development inaugurated the passenger services on the first Underground Section in Green Line from Koyambedu to Nehru Park (7.4 KMs) of Chennai Metro Rail Project- Phase-I on 14-5-2017. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and Hon'ble Union Minister of Urban Development flagged off the first train from Thirumangalam Metro Station on 14.05.2017 and declared open the Metro Stations from Thirumangalam to Nehru Park for Passenger Services. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the Hon'ble Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information & Broadcasting inaugurated the Underground Metro stretch from Koyambedu to Nehru Park on 14.05.2017. This inauguration marks the first underground stretch in the Green Line of the Phase I of CMRL Project to be opened for passenger services. A total of 7.4 kms of underground stretch from Koyambedu to Nehru Park has been inaugurated. The entire elevated stretch of Phase 1 from Koyambedu to St. Thomas Mount, Little Mount to Airport is already in operation. Underground Green Line Metro between Thirumangalam and
Nehru Park Metro Rail Stations on 09.05.17.
The Hon’ble Minister inspected the works in progress at the
metro stations and safety measures taken at the stations and
facilities present in the metro stations.

Metro Rail utilizes;
1. Lowest carbon emission amongst various modes of mass transport.
2. Causes no air pollution in the city. Provides for very high passenger
capacity.

that helps in using the metro services.
Following are the different sections in the app and
the information available in them.
Route between stations – selecting the starting
and destination stations will display the user the
fares, distance, approximate travel time, stations
in between with changeover station and the route
map with plotting of the route on the map.
Station Info- selecting a station will give you various useful information about the
station like First and last train timings, Platforms, Gates and Directions, contact
numbers, tourist spots near that station, parking, feeder services etc.
Nearest metro station – This section will show you the nearest metro station from
your current location.
Other useful information to the user namely Metro Stations, Routes, Fares, nearby
spots, Weather Forecast etc are also available in the Mobile App.
