“Everyperson will not get anything unless he/she works hard”
(Surah al-Najm, 53:39).
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As I reflect upon what has been a very eventful term, I would like to remind students of the strong correlation between effort and success. The month of Ramadan raced through and our students did so well to remain focused on their studies. We celebrated the success of our students in Arabic and Islamic studies with the award presentation last Wednesday. Rissalah College had our first EID festival that was held in Wiley Park. It was extremely successful and I would like to thank all parents/caregivers and their families for your continual support.
Our students have a new playground equipment which they have enjoyed playing in the last couple of weeks. Feedback has been positive from students and teachers; where they love the new features and students are playing safely on it.
Rissalah College will be undergoing some renovations over the Term 2 school holidays. In order to prepare for construction and for the safety of our students, the school holidays have been extended. Term 2 school holidays will start on Monday, 8th July and finish on the Friday 26th July.
School will resume for students on Monday, 29th July. No classrooms in the school building will be impacted directly and learning will be go as per normal.
Our students and staff have worked very hard to produce excellent results and I look forward to seeing these efforts continue in Term 3.
I would like to wish parents/carers, students and staff a safe and happy holiday.
JazakaAllah Khairan,
Mrs. Yeliz Fattouh Principal
Principal’s Message
Please be reminded school starts at 8:20am and students are dismissed at 3:20pm. Thank you to all parents and caregivers in attendance at our parent-teacher interviews on Tuesday
night. Students’ Semester One reports and portfolios were released during the interviews. Please take
the opportunity during the three week break to review your child's portfolio assessments. We
encourage you to revise any areas of weakness and ensure students are well prepared for their Term
3 learning. It is important that you are actively engaged in your child’s learning, both at home and at
school. When schools and families work together, children do better.
How you can help your child do well at school:
While it’s important to stay informed and be involved in school activities where possible, there are lots
of things you can do at home which can help your child to do better at school:
- Have high expectations of your child.
- Talk regularly about school and the value of learning.
- Encourage positive attitudes and respect for school and teachers.
- Model the behaviours you would like to see in your child.
Other things you can do which have also been shown to have a positive impact are to:
- Read out loud with your child and listen to your child read out loud.
- Talk and ask about what they are learning.
- Ask what was and was not fun at school.
- Help them to develop strong work habits.
One of the most effective ways parents and families can help children to do better at school is to make
sure they go to school every day. School attendance has a major influence on educational
outcomes. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve better results at school.
Kindergarten enrolment for 2019 closed on Friday, 28th June 2019. Kindergarten 2019 testing will take place on Saturday, 3rd August 2019. Phone calls will be made by administration staff to notify parents/caregivers of the interview time for their child’s entrance interview.
