Defining WorshipRomans 12: 1-2:

• “1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

InstructionLuke 4: 5-8:

• 5 And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, 6 and said to him, “To you I will give all this authority and their glory, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whom I will. 7 If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.” 8 And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’ ”

The Nature of Worship

Luke 19: 37-40:• “37 As he was drawing near – already on the way down the

Mount of Olives – the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, 38 saying, ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!’ 39 And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples.’ 40 He answered, ‘I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.’ ”
