Audacity of Hoops Basketball Tournament is a Winner! More than 55 youth participated in The Audacity of Hoops 3 x 3 Basketball Tournament on Sunday, October 23rd. The event was held downtown Silver Spring on Veterans Plaza in front of the Civic Building. Ellsworth street was blocked off and turned into multiple basketball courts to host the event. 15 high school teams (and a great team of Montgomery County's finest fire and rescue workers) participated. Montgomery Blair and Springbrook squared off in the championship game with Springbrook High School walking away with the win! The exhibition highlighted the promise of addressing the County’s youth violence issues through providing high quality and adult supervised enrichment activities for teens. IMPACT proudly partnered with County Council President Valerie Ervin and Gabe Albornoz of the Department of Recreation to host the tournament. Thanks to Reemberto Rodriguez, Director of the Silver Spring Regional Center; Jewru Bandeh, Manager of the Civic Building; Jose Segura of the Department of Recreation; and the wonderful Recreation Department staff for helping to pull off the event!!! Audacity of Hoops Basketball Tournament is a Winner!

More than 55 youth

participated in The Audacity of Hoops 3 x 3 Basketball Tournament on Sunday, October 23rd.

The event was held downtown Silver Spring on Veterans Plaza in front of the Civic

Building. Ellsworth street was blocked off and turned into multiple basketball courts to host

the event. 15 high school teams (and a great team of Montgomery County's finest fire and

Soccer Academy Night Draws More than 80 Families

The Long Branch

Athletic Association program has been holding a weekly soccer Academy at Broad Acres

Elementary School. The Acadmey is parent-run with moms and dads acting as the coaches,

assistants, and team coordinators.

On Thursday, October 27th, participating families gathered to do some connecting off the

fields. The Soccer Academy Night event featured game night activities, a potluck dinner, and

a photographer taking family photos for an Academy directory.
