Pylypivka begins on November 15th, the day aOer the Feast of St. Philip (November 14), and conTnues for forty days unTl December 24th. In the Western Rite Church, or Roman Catholic Church, this Tme is known as Advent. For the faithful, Pylypivka is a Tme of preparing our hearts and lives through fasTng or the absTnence of certain foods, prayer, abending pre-Christmas services, and/or acts of charity to others. The Church offers this Tme to remind us, and to help us, focus on receiving Christ into the world. This fast prepares us for the feast. We should be aware that we are in a Tme of preparaTon, preparing room in our hearts for the Lord as He comes. -PYLYPIVKA PRAYER- (prayed with the students each morning at school) Lord Jesus, we ask You to visit our homes and our school. Amen On November 15, the students parTcipated in a prayer service to introduce them to the season of Pylypivka and this year’s school theme. The theme of Pylypivka this year at IHMS is ‘Beber to Give than to Receive’ - focusing on giving… … to our family (week one) … to our friends (week two) … to our school (week three) … to our community (week four) … to our environment (week five) … to our God (week six) DECEMBER 2019 NEWSLETTER Every year during Pylypivka, IHMS undertakes a school wide ChrisTan service project organized by our social jusTce team, “Students Making A Change”. For this year’s project, SMAC will be collaboraTng with a local group called the Bear Clan. Student of IHMS can donate a non-perishable food/snack items that can be eaten without any preparaTon or access to kitchen utensils. Some suggesTons would be granola bars, fruit snacks, juice boxes, goldfish crackers, dried fruit and bobled water. ST. NICHOLAS VISIT St. Nicholas is expected to visit our school on the aOernoon of December 6 at 2:00P.M!! You’re all invited to join us in welcoming him.
