IC CHURCH RESTORATION FUND Two new share (savings) accounts have been recent-ly set up at the Ukrainian credit unions to accept dona-tions designated for church restoration. Donations can be made directly to these accounts: At the Ukrainian Future Credit Union (Future), the new account is identified as "IC Church Restoration" and bears account number 13194 S20. At the Ukrainian Selfreliance Michigan Federal Credit Un-ion (Selfreliance), the account is identified as "IC Church Restoration" and bears account number 17263. As of August 23, 2011, approximately $125.850 in do-nations for restoration work has been received and depos-ited into these accounts. Approximately $300,000 in do-nations is needed in order to finance Phase One of the church restoration project. It is imperative that the first phase of restoration work begin this summer in order to avoid further damage to the church building (exterior and interior) that would be occasioned by any significant and unnecessary delay. Without your generous and timely donations this simply cannot be done. We need your help and we need it NOW.

На 23 серпня приблизно 125,850.00 долярів було

пожертвувано для реставраційних робіт. Приблизно

300,000 дплярів потрібно для того, щоб розпочати

фінансування першого етапу реставраційних робіт.

Щоб в подальшому уникнути більших пошкоджень

інтер’єру та екстер’єру будівлі необхідно розпочати

перший крок реставраційних робіт як найшвидше -

цього літа. Без Ваших щедрих і вчасних пожертв це

просто неможливо зробити. Ми потребуємо Вашої

допомоги і ми потребуємо її негайно!!!!

IC Schools "Diamond" Year Banquet is scheduled for October 23, 2011. The guest speaker for the Banquet will be the Right Rev. Bishop Hlib Lonchyna. The cele-bration will begin with a Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am at IC Church sung by the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus.

субсидії від парафій Непорочного Зачаття та св.

Йосафата. Вагомий вклад також вносять кошти від

проведення різних доброчинних програм і подій.

CATHOLIC EDUCATION Young people are a valued treasure and the future leaders of our Church. It is the responsibility of the entire Catholic community—bishops, priests, deacons, religious, and laity—to continue to strive towards the goal of making our Catholic elementary and secondary schools available, accessible, and affordable to all Catholic parents and their children, including those who are poor and middle class. All Catholics must join together in efforts to ensure that Catholic schools have administrators and teachers who are prepared to provide an exceptional educational experience for young people—one that is both truly Catholic and of the highest aca-demic quality. Young people of the third millennium must be a source of energy and leadership in our Church and our na-tion. Therefore, we must provide young people with an academically rigorous and doctrinally sound pro-gram of education and faith formation designed to strengthen their union with Christ and his Church. Catholic schools collaborate with parents and guardians in raising and forming their children as families struggle with the changing and challenging cultural and moral contexts in which they find themselves. Cath-olic schools provide young people with sound Church teaching through a broad-based curriculum, where faith and culture are intertwined in all areas of a school’s life. By equipping our young people with a sound education, rooted in the Gospel message, the Person of Jesus Christ, and rich in the cherished traditions and liturgical practices of our faith, we ensure that they have the foundation to live morally and uprightly in our complex modern world. This unique Catholic identity makes our Catholic elementary and secondary schools “schools for the human person” and allows them to fill a critical role in the future life of our Church, our country, and our world (Catholic Schools on the Threshold, no. 9). Catholic schools are often the Church’s most effective contribution to those families who are poor and dis-advantaged, especially in poor inner city neighborhoods and rural areas. Catholic schools cultivate healthy interaction among the increasingly diverse populations of our society. In cities and rural areas, Catholic schools are often the only opportunity for economically disadvantaged young people to receive an education of quality that speaks to the development of the whole person. As we continue to address the many and var-ied needs of our nation’s new immigrant population, the Church and its schools are often among the few institutions providing immigrants and newcomers with a sense of welcome, dignity, community, and con-nection with their spiritual roots. As important as a sound Catholic school education is for the new immigrant and the poor, it continues to be of prime importance to those children and grandchildren of the generations who earlier came to our shores. Our Catholic schools have produced countless numbers of well-educated and moral citizens who are leaders in our civic and ecclesial communities. We must work with all parents so they have the choice of an education that no other school can supply—excellent academics imparted in the context of Catholic teaching and practice.
