ENVELOPES FOR SCHOOL SUBSIDY AND
CHURCH MAINTENANCE Thank you for contributing to offset our
church maintenance and school subsidy obligations. As with a home,
there are always unexpected repairs in the Parish, in addition to
planned expenses. Thanks to your continued generosity, we have been
meeting our ever-increasing expenses. The ongoing need for
additional cleaning and sanitizing due to COVID-19 has resulted in
continued expenses for products such as hand sanitizer and
specialty cleaners Some major repairs around the grotto at the
front of the Church have been completed. The metal steps at the
rear of the Lyceum need replacement as soon as possible. Anything
you are able to give by using the green maintenance or yellow
school envelopes, located in the vestibule, is deeply appreciated.
Maintenance of the school building and modular units is the
responsibility of the Parish. The parish is expected to support
Reverend Brown School and Pope John XXIII Middle School. Thank You
again.
Weekly Contributions
Last Week’s Collection: $ 3,765 * * Includes Online Giving
2020-2021 Diocesan Assessment: $27,127 Collected to Date (Project
Faith): $ 2,144
During this time of uncertainty, THANK YOU for continuing to
support your parish. Please know that we are most appreciative for
all of your donations. We all know how difficult things are
financially for families. So, too, is it to run a parish, as
expenses continue to rise. The parish is dependent on income from
collections and Mass stipends. We are grateful for your continued
and increased generosity in support of our parish, especially
during the last few months. Please know that any donations
earmarked for a specific purpose, such as maintenance or payment of
oil bills, remain in the parish. We rely on the generosity of
parishioners to be able to meet both planned and unplanned
expenses. For whatever you are able to give, may God bless you; you
and your intentions are always in our prayers. Remember, God always
rewards a generous giver.

novenas & Masses
The Saturday 5pm Mass is livestreamed each week.
Please be aware that our Church is a holy place and respect
those who wish to pray after Mass.
Those attending Mass should always dress respectfully,
especially those who may be called to
serve the faithful from the altar.

A Few Gentle Reminders
Wearing of masks: The wearing of masks in Church is required.
Masks must be worn properly to be effective; that is, covering the
nose and mouth. Please do not remove masks or uncover your nose or
mouth when in Church. Please be considerate of others who wish to
worship, and are following regulations.
Cleaning of Pews: Thank you to those who have been willing to
help clean and disinfect pews after Masses. Some Masses have more
volunteers than others, so we are asking, if you are able, please
help. We don’t have the maintenance staff to complete this process.
We have sign up sheets in the vestibule, please check them on the
way in.
Ushers: We invite ushers and volunteers to help seat people in
appropriate groups and observe social distancing. Seating in the
sanctuary and in the choir loft is not being fully utilized. We do
not want to risk any health issues due to improper social
distancing.
THANK YOU!
The Annual Giving Program will be in effect through Sunday,
December 13
The Giving Program offers our parishioners an opportunity to
share the joy of Christmas through gift giving to those in need in
our community. Instead of a tree, the program is set up this year
with distancing
and safety measures in mind. For those who don’t wish to shop,
but would like
to participate, there will be a basket to accept donations of
gift cards.
We invite you to take a tag and purchase the item indicated.
Tape the tag on top of your WRAPPED gift and return it to Church no
later than Sunday,
December 13th, so gifts can be distributed in time for
Christmas. Thank you for your generosity.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Sign Up for Christmas Masses A mailing went out this week to
registered parishioners with information about Advent and
Christmas. Please review the information carefully, as there are
several
changes from past years. Parishioners are being given the
opportunity to sign up for
Christmas Masses. Please return the form enclosed in the mailing
to the Parish Office as soon as possible. We
will keep you informed of space available through announcements
and notices in the bulletin and on the
parish website Thank you for your understanding during this
challenging
Advent and Christmas season..

Immaculate Conception Cemetery Just as in life, we believe that
in death the human body deserves to be treated with respect and
dignity. The cemetery is an extension of the Church that ministers
to our grief as the Church ministers to our faith. Being buried in
the sacred grounds of a Catholic cemetery is an assertion of faith
for both the deceased and their loved ones. In keeping with the
Church’s tradition of respect for the body, remains and cremains
should receive proper burial, entombment or inurnment. Immaculate
Conception Cemetery is located on North Church Road. Contact the
Parish Office at 973-827-9575 or [email protected] to make an
appointment to obtain information about burial, entombment or
inurnment arrangements.

2020 Diocesan Ministries Appeal “Love Thy Neighbor” This time of
year, as we plan to celebrate Thanksgiving, our thoughts and
prayers will be for all those who passed away from the coronavirus
and the many families impacted. It will be for those on the
frontlines of COVID-19 who selflessly care for so many. It will be
for all who may be hurting in some way. In our own diocese, tens of
thousands of your neighbors in profound need seek our the services
of our Catholic Charities and, with help from the Diocesan
Ministries Appeal, they find an open door and a compassionate
response. Please make a pledge to our Appeal today! For your
convenience, you can make an online gift or pledge at
www.2020appeal.org.
Senior Moment - “Happy New-Giving”
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s will be different for
2020, with some celebration choices that would never have been
imagined just a year ago! The uplifting wisdom in the phrase “If
you can’t do it all, do what you can” resonates true for these
times. Where current parameters could suggest limitations, with
ingenuity, the essence of many seasonal delights may be as present
as ever. As socializing might be more virtual or phone-centered,
those methods need not diminish the abundant warmth and humor of
loving exchange. Annually, we have the predictable anticipation of
the Giving Tree on our altar. Alternate modes of gifting this year
may increasingly source online or surrogate shopping, crafting,
gift card purchases, and baking. Though we may be preparing for the
holidays exclusively from home, the breadth of creative lessons
from our Senior life experience can bring inspired meaning to our
gifting this year! The bequeathing of the benefits of prayer is not
to be overlooked. Who is not delighted with a bouquet of flowers?
Remember the lovely, (almost 100 year old’, I read!) tradition of
the “Spiritual Bouquet”? With just a bit of planning, this
individually tailored designation of good works for another’s grace
may easily be accomplished over these coming weeks. It can be one
of the most beautiful assemblages for giving. Though it may be some
years since we have prepared one, many of us Seniors vividly recall
the “Spiritual Bouquet’s” pledging of specific devotions. Its
composition can include decades of the Rosary, virtual or in-person
attendance at Mass, Communions, visits to the Blessed Sacrament for
those who can, meditation, personalized prayers, recitation of
Novenas or Litanies, praying of the Stations of the Cross, the
giving of alms, the accomplishing of charitable deeds, and more! -
each of the above, in any number or combination. A descriptive note
or card can announce the specific acts already performed or
promised on behalf of the recipient of its graces. (There are
wonderful descriptions online.) It is not surprising that the “Hail
Mary” is so often a beautiful, prominent part of the Bouquet; our
thoughtful saying, for another, of the venerable Annunciation and
Visitation words within the first half of the prayer inevitably
opens, for ourselves, passage into the emerging joys of this 2020
Christmas Season. Let’s imagine our stained glass Immaculate
Conception altar medallion and thoughtfully pray Our Lady’s prayer
together ~ at this very moment!
