SUBJECT: Psychological Operations: A Selected Bibliography

1. - The Department of Defense's desire to have a flexible force structurecapable of responding to a wide range of threats has led the Army to createthe lst Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. This newCommand encompasses all active duty Special Forces, Ranger, Civil Affairsand Psychological Operations Units. Sharing in this resurgence of interestin special capabilities is psychological operations, the purpose of whichis to create in foreign groups the emotions, attitudes or behavior to supportthe achievement of national objectives.

2. KTo assist student researchers in a better understanding of this uniquecapability, the USAWC Library has developed this bibliography of literaturef on psychological operations, psychological warfare, and propaganda Thebibliography focuses primarily on materials published since 1950, Lithemphasis on the years encompassed by U.S. involvement in Vietnam. This listdoes not pretend to be comprehensive; it reflects only those sources readilyavailable in the USAWC Library collection- For additional information, please
