AFSTI, established in 1957, is one of the largest professional bodies in the country with its varied
membership numbering more than 3500 spread over 29 Chapters across the country. The
association has successfully completed its golden jubilee in 2007 and is heading towards the
diamond jubilee. The major objectives of the AFST (I) include application of advanced
technology during production, processing, storage and distribution of food with an ultimate aim
of strengthening the socio-economic status of farmers, entrepreneurs and rural artisan
community. The AFST(I), as a storehouse of food professionals, is continuously working for the
economic development of country through food technology and engineering. The Association brings
out many technical publications including prestigious Journals: Journal of Food Science and Technology (JFST) and Indian Food Industry
Mag (IFI Mag). The major activities of AFST(I) are to organize Indian Convention of Food Scientists and Technologists (ICFoST) every year
and International Food Convention (IFCON) once in every five years.
The AFST(I) Education & Publication Trust (AFSTI E&PT) was formed in 1988 as a sister
organization of AFST(I). The office of the Trust is located at AFST (I) office CFTRI Campus Mysore. The main objective of the Trust is to
stimulate research on various aspects of Food Science and Technology. The organization has made commendable progress in awarding
yearly scholarships to merited students in the field of Food Science and Technology, from the interest accrued on its corpus fund. The
Trust also supports scientists with financial grants for writing books and monographs in the field.

Technical SessionsA total of 21 scientific sessions are planned during IFCON-2013, which include keynote presentations and lead papersby eminent persons with vast experience in their respective areas. The scientific presentations will be brought out inthe form of a Souvenir which will be given to delegates at the time of registration.

by paying the set fees indicated in the circular / registered form.
Original research work in Food Science & Technology and allied areas can bepresented by registered delegates at IFCON 2013. Review paper will not beconsidered for oral presentation. Registration as a delegate is a pre-requisite for oral presentation. Registereddelegates desirous of making oral presentation may upload the extended abstract not exceeding 2 A4 pages in“double spacing” ( a maximum of 1000 words) on the conference website at the time of registration OR Mail theextended abstract to Dr KSMS Raghavarao, Chairman, Technical Committee, at Theguidelines for extended abstract for oral presentation are the same as that of poster presentation except the wordlimit. If you are mailing please indicate the seminar theme in which work needs to be considered. Also mentiondetails of payment and declare that you have registered. The Technical Committee will review the extendedabstract for its suitability in the desired session and intimate the decision. Mere registration will not entitle forOral presentation. In case of rejection for oral, it can be presented as poster, if the author(s) desires. If author is notwilling to present as poster, full refund of registration fee will be made after the conference.
Original research papers in Food Science & Technology and allied areas can bepresented by registered delegates at IFCON-2013. Review papers will not beconsidered for poster presentation. A registered delegate can present only oneposter of original work (not presented / published anywhere). Details about theposter presentations will be included in the program indicating time, posterboard number and location. The abstracts will be included in the Souvenir,which will be part of registration kit. Abstracts of the poster papers should besubmitted on or before as per the guidelines givenseparately. At the time of conference the poster have to be presented on boards , thedimention of which will be available on the AFST(I) website before November 30, 2013.
Registered student delegate can also participate in two more ways -
Any original photo (Digital / otherwise) clicked by an individual student or ateam of students can enter into this contest. Providing a suitable caption is mandatory. The photos with caption entryinto the competition have to be submitted to AFST(I) at email: before November 15,2013.The photos (12”x18”) can be presented on the poster boards at the venue, which will be judged for a prize.
Any post graduate student of Food Science & Technology and allied fields are eligible for this competition. The
essay topics are as follows -
The candidate can write as essay of not more than 3500 words lenght in double spacing on A4 size sheets with Times
New Roman of 12 font size. Each entry should mention Name, Institution and course in which studying. The
complete essay should be mailed to before November 10, 2013. The prize winning
essay(s) will be published in the Souvenir / IFI Mag based on the judge’s recommendations.

Mysore is easily accessible from New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai viaBangalore by rail, road or air. Mysore is 140 Km away from Bangalore and can be reached by rail or road fromBangalore in two and a half to three hours. Venue of the conference (CSIR-CFTRI campus) is ½ km from railwaystation & 4 km from bus stand.
The weather will be pleasant and cool during December. Light woolen clothing should suffice inmaking the stay of the delegates cosy and comfortable.
