� The best way to achieve this is through the use of an international standards process involving all interested parties with international standards being the end product

� This is the process we use in IEC in the development of our TC 31 standards

� These internation standards can then also provide the basis for international certification.

• All standards currently used in IECEx Certified Equipment Scheme are TC 31 electrical standards

• For the same scheme ISO/IEC 80079-34 is now applied for manufacturers

• For IECEx Certified Service Facilities Scheme the standard used is IEC 60079-19 Equipment repair, overhaul and reclamation

• TC 31 standards also used for the new IECEX personnel competencies scheme

• Chair of TC 31 is a member of the IECEx management committee ExMC
