Sport Accord

The new millennium brought important changes to the sport organisation. Reacting to the increasing pressure on IFs to professionalise and develop, GAISF in collaboration with the Associations of Summer and Winter Olympic International Federations (ASOIF and AIOWF), launched first SportAccord International Convention in 2003.

At the time, this new format “by sport for sport” allows IFs and sports business to get together, share knowledge and network.

App Show

Third Anniversary SF AppShow,

November 8th marks the three year anniversary of the SF AppShow.

I’m looking for a great venue in SF to host the biggest AppShow yet.

If you know of any venues in San Francisco where we can mark this three year milestone, please let me know (see the contact tab).

I’m interested in hearing an update from any of the over 110 companies that have previously presented at the SF, LA, Chicago, or Las Vegas AppShows.

I’m also looking for ground breaking new apps to launch at this event.

Sports and environment congress Baku‘s bid to host the Olympic Games 2016

Baku the capital city of Azerbaijan bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

It was the first bid by the city to host the Olympic games. Baku was eliminated from the running at the announcement of the Candidate city shortlist on June 4, 2008.

If Baku had been chosen to host, the games would have been held between July 15 and July 31, 2016.[

The Paralympics would have been held between August 10 and August 22.

But Baku was still benefitting form the bid

The city and the country was put on the map. Baku hosted several international events since then and a new perception on potential new opportunities was discovered.

Mega events and their side events

Crown Prince Ludwig was married to Princess Theresa on October 12, 1810. The citizens of xxx were invited to attend the festivities held on the fields in front of the city gates to celebrate the happy royal event.

The fields were named Theresienwiese ("Theresa's meadow") in honour of the Crown Princess, and have kept that name ever since.

Horse races in the presence of the Royal Family marked the close of the event that was celebrated as a festival for the whole of Bavaria. The decision to repeat the horse races in the subsequent year gave rise to the tradition of the world famous event.

"The festival” was eventually prolonged and moved ahead to September to allow for better weather conditions. Today, the last day of the festival is the first Sunday in October.

Here is the question:

Is the event still existing and in case it is, what is the name of the event?

Leipzig‘s bid to host the World Skills 2013

The WorldSkills Competition

In 1946 two Spaniards had a vision.

José Antonio Elola Olaso and Francisco Albert-Vidal dreamed of an international craft skills competition, a professional-quality championship with participants from all over the world. The first Spanish championships for apprentices were a roaring success in 1947.

In 1950, neighbouring Portugal was invited to join in, and since 1953 more and more countries have taken up the challenge. Morocco, France, United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland entered teams for the International Vocational Training Contest.

Since 1999 the event has been known as WorldSkills. Initially held annually, it has been held every other year since 1973.

Our philosophy

Sustainable execution

Brilliant execution of technical requirements

Every tendering organisation must be convincedthat the applicant is able to fulfil the technicalrequirements, needed for the implementation of an event.

The main prerequisites for the success of a bid are clearly defined.

Page 62: ICCA Research Presentation (2) #ICCA12 TUESDAY 23/10/2012

Our philosophy

Sustainable execution

Political support

Every bid needs backing from the political arena.

Page 63: ICCA Research Presentation (2) #ICCA12 TUESDAY 23/10/2012

Our philosophy

Sustainable execution

Emotional impact

Facts convince, moods fluctuate. The more important it is to establish a mood thatcreates emotional closeness and warmth.

Cultural and social uniqueness are important criteria.

Page 64: ICCA Research Presentation (2) #ICCA12 TUESDAY 23/10/2012

Our philosophy

Sustainable execution

Positive perception

Perception often sets a mood that influences purchase, consumption or voting patterns. Tasks entrusted to us are frequently bound to a promise that will not be honoured until some time in the future.

Our job is to generate perception in a factual andemotional sense to imply the fulfilment of thepromise made.
