i Judgment? Revelation 20:11-15 September 9, 2018 Revelation 20 is the most serious, sobering, and tragic passage in the entire Bible. It will take place after Christ defeats all of His enemies at Armageddon. After Satan and his demonic angels are bound for a thousand years while Jesus reigns on the earth; after evil’s last desperate attempt to overthrow Christ and regain the world. It will take place after Satan, the Antichrist, and his false prophet have been cast into the lake of fire. It will be the final reckoning of fallen humanity before God. There will be no debate over their guilt or innocence. There will be a prosecutor, but no defender, an accuser but no advocate. There will be an indictment, but no defense mounted by the accused; the convicting evidence will be presented with no rebuttal or cross-examination. There will be an utterly unsympathetic Judge and no jury, and the guilty will be punished eternally with no possibility of parole in a prison from which there is no escape.” I. Revelation 20 is the most serious, sobering, and tragic passage in the entire Bible. Five Different Types of Future Judgments:

1. The Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:10)

2. The Judgment of Re-gathered Israel (Daniel 12:1)

3. The Judgment of the Nations (Joel 3:1-2)

4. The Judgment of Fallen Angels (Jude 6)

5. The Judgment of the Great White Throne (Revelation 20:11-15) John MacArthur: “The accused, all the unsaved who have ever lived, will be resurrected to experience a trial like no other that has ever been. There will be no debate over their guilt or innocence. There will be a prosecutor, but no defender, an accuser but no advocate. 09.09.18 - What If You End Up At The Great White Throne Judgment? Page 2

A. The people who are called

Four categories of people will be at this judgment:

1. The arrogant and proud sinner

2. The arrogant and self-righteous sinner

3. The arrogant, procrastinating sinner

4. The arrogant and indifferent church member

B. The places from where they are called

Revelation 20:13a (NKJV) The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them… Acts 17:31 (NKJV) Because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.

III. The Secrets that are Revealed

Revelation 20:12 (NKJV) And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things that were written in the books.

The Bible Implies Five Different Books:

1. The Book of Conscience

Romans 2:15 (NKJV) Who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them.

2. The Book of Words

Matthew 12:36 (NKJV) But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

3. The Book of Secrets

Romans 2:16 (NKJV) In the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Ecclesiastes 12:14 (NKJV) For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

“If a man ever invented a camera that could take a picture of a man’s heart, it would be taken out of circulation, for people would refuse to have the pictures developed because they would be so evil. Mankind has a terrible heart.”

4. The Book of Public Works

Matthew 16:27 (NKJV) For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

5. The Book of Life

Revelation 20:12b (NKJV) And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life.

Exodus 32:33 (NKJV) And the LORD said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book. Psalm 69:28 (NKJV) Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

IV. The Sentence that is Determined

Revelation 20:14-15 (NKJV) Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
