1 HYDROLOGY DATA ANALYTICS TOOLS CANADA INDIA CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE Carleton University’s Canada-India Centre for Excellence (CICE) was established in 2011 to help strengthen the bilateral relationship between Canada and India. In collaboration with academic and industry experts, CICE offers a suite of specialized training programs to address skills gap that can impede the growth in the bilateral partnership. CICE’s programs are tailored for Indian and Canadian context and bring together best practices from both countries. PROGRAM OBJECTIVE This short-term program is specifically meant for professional(s) from the Hydrology field. The program offers course modules in Data Analytics specific to Hydrology application. MODULES INCLUDED The following modules are included: • Data Analytics (10 days - 60 hours inclusive of self-learning and application/ lab exercises) o Fundamentals of Data Science: structure of data, statistical learning, team roles and functions o What and Why? o Data processing and data cleaning: data quality, ethical considerations, missing values, anomalous observations, transformations o Web and Data Technologies: HTML, XML / JSON, XPath, HTTP, AJAX, Regular Expressions in R o Data collection, text representation, text processing, simple statistics, visualization o Extracting strategies: Reading Documents (Text Files, CSV Files, PDF Files, o MS Word Files), Using APIs (Google and Twitter) and reading documents, Syntax analysis, semantic analysis, Topic modelling PROGRAM FEE The cost of the Program is C$ 3,000 for a batch size of 16 – 20 participants. The cost includes the following: • Accommodation • Course modules • Networking opportunities and site visits • Airport pick-up and drop-off The following are not included: • Airfare & visa fee
