1 HUNGAROCONTROL ESSENTIALS
This section provides some basic information about HungaroControl regarding its premises and in-house
rules.
1.1 CONTACT
Address: H-1185 Budapest, Igló utca 33-35.
1.2 LOCATION
The ANSP is located 15km from Budapest city-centre near Budapest Liszt Ferenc International
Airport. The HQ can be reached easily by public transport or by car/taxi. Directions from the city-
centre and the airport are shown below. A local map showing the HQ’s location and surroundings is
shown at ‘Annex A’ at the back of this booklet together with a link to an interactive smartphone
application for making the use of public transport easier.
1.2.1 BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM THE CITY-CENTRE
Metro line M3 runs through the city and has a stop at every key location. To get to HungaroControl
from the city-centre get off at the final station ‘Kőbánya-Kispest’ and take bus n° 200E to the stop
‘Szemeretelep vasútállomás’. From there you can reach HungaroControl in 5 minutes walking. The
whole journey takes around 35 minutes.
Train n° S50 in the direction of ‘Monor’ goes from ‘Nyugati Railway Station’. This is the fastest
option if you have booked your hotel near the station. If you choose this option also get off at stop
called ‘Szemeretelep’.
1.2.2 FROM LISZT FERENC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The airport is near HungaroControl and you can reach the ANSP by bus n° 200E getting off at stop
‘Szemeretelep vasútállomás’.
Taxis are available at the airport, see details later in the booklet. The fare is typically between 10 €
and 15 €.
Both option takes around 15 minutes to HungaroControl.
1.3 PREMISES
HungaroControl has three main buildings. ANS I is the greenish building in the picture where the CRDS
is located. You can find the training rooms on the ground floor, and the smoking terrace is located on

the first floor of ANS I building. ANS II is the building where you enter the premises. The restaurant,
cafeteria, and the doctor’s office is located in this building.

1.4 IN-HOUSE RULES
Wear the entrance card on a visible part of your clothes! Do not lend your visitor card to anyone!
Smoking is only allowed in the dedicated areas (e.g. 1st floor terrace). No e-cigarettes are
allowed in the building.
1.5 SERVICES
1.5.1 RESTAURANT / CAFETERIA
The restaurant on the ground floor of ANS II building is open from 11 AM until 2 PM. The lunch menu
varies each day and offers a wide variety of foods (not including halal food). Please note, that you can
not leave the building during the day.
The cafeteria is open from 06:30 AM until 07:30 PM, where coffee, vegetarian salads, pizza and
sandwiches are available.

1.5.2 HEALTHCARE
At HungaroControl premises (ANS II) medical treatment is available during working hours. Automatic
defibrillator can be found at the reception.
1.6 EMERGENCY PLAN
1.6.1 IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
The integrated fire alarm system located in the building, detects the fire at an early stage and signal it
via audio. The transmitter will notify the fire service.
Any employee who experiences fire condition (smoke, smoke smell) in the establishment or in its
surrounding must immediately use the call point which then automatically activates the fire alarm
system.

1.6.2 LEAVING THE BUILDING
In case of fire alarm everybody must leave the building. The escape route is indicated by emergency exit
lighting that will guide you to the main entrance, the elevators cannot be used. In the fenced parking lot
(Igló street) is the meeting point where everyone must wait for further information.

2.2 GETTING AROUND IN BUDAPEST
Budapest is divided into two parts: Buda and Pest. There are 4 metro lines connecting Buda and Pest.
Trams and buses are also widely used and cover most of the suburbs of Budapest as well. The main
tram lines are number 4 and 6 which also connect Buda and Pest.
A single BKK ticket costs 350 HUF (~1.1 EURO), whilst a single ticket bought on the spot costs 450 HUF
(1,4 EURO). Budapest 7-day travelcard costs 4950 HUF (~16.2 EUR). You can find more information on

The city is divided into 23 disticts, the most populars among tourists are the followings: I. (Castle
Quarter), V. (Váci Street, Parliament), VI. (Andrássy Avenue), VII. (Jewish Quarter, Király Street).

2.6 THINGS TO DO WHILE VISITING BUDAPEST
We want you to enjoy your stay in Budapest. Whilst much of your schedule may be taken up by your
course, we hope that you will also find time to enjoy some of the attractions that Luxembourg has
to offer. The following information will give you (or someone accompanying you during your visit) an
idea of the range of things that you can do.
2.6.1 TOURIST INFORMATION
Budapest offers many tourist attractions. There are a lot you can explore without taking any vehicle.
Take a walk along the bank of river Danube on both sides, climb up to Gellért Hill or to the Castle
District and enjoy the view. Look for the roof of St. Stephen’s Basilica or at the House of the
Parliament so that you can later visit their true architectural greatness by yourself. Sit into a
restaurant or join the nightlife in a famous ruinpub (https://ruinpubs.com)

KöKi Terminál Shopping Mall

The KöKi Terminál Shopping Mall (or usually just KöKi) is at
the final station of the bus n° 200E that travels to the airport
and has a stop near the HQ. It takes about 20 minutes to get
there from HungaroControl. It also has a swift connection to the city-centre through metro line M3.
KöKi is a large shopping mall operating a wide range of shops and selling almost everything you
should need during your stay from groceries in Tesco to books, clothes etc.
Shops in the mall are mostly open from 06h00 to 22h00 each day.

Corvin Plaza
Corvin Plaza is located near the main avenue in the city and
has a connection to metro line M3 as well (Corvin-negyed).
It is a little bit smaller than KöKi, but you can find everything
you need here as well as in KöKi from a grocery shop (CBA) at the lowest level to restaurants at the
top with drugstores and clothes shops in between.
The grocery shops open at 07h00 while the other shops at 10h00 and they close with the mall at
22h00.

WestEnd
WestEnd is the largest shopping malls in Budapest with a wide range of
shops, restaurants and a cinema. From HungaroControl you can reach the
mall by metro M3 (Nyugati pályaudvar) or by train from ‘Szemeretelep’ train
n° S50 leaving at the final station.
The restaurants open at 08h00 and close at 22h00 while the shops are open from 10h00 to 20h00.

Váci utca and Fővám Square Market
If you are looking for an tangible memory to bring back home, visit the famous shopping street, Váci
utca covered in little souvenir stores and restaurants in the city-centre or the market at Fővám
square to find authentic Hungarian goods (mostly special food and clothes).
