Example #1: SKET• Sket is a 2011 British urban

retribution thriller film, set in the inner estates of North West London. Released in October 2011, the film comes from the makers of Shank and Anuvahood.

• Adorno’s theory can be applied to this film. One of his ideas is that “all media is formulaic and repeats the same representation”. This movies shows this as the teenagers in the film are represented as violent, aggressive and are shown to lack morals. This is similar to representation of teenagers in numerous TV shows and films such as Harry Brown, Ill Manors, Offender and much more.

Example #2: Plan B - Playing With Fire ft. Labrinth music video• Adorno’s ideas can also be applied to

Plan B’s music video. This video shows youths in in violent activities such as fights and so on. It also shows them on an estate and uses hoodies as part of the youth’s costume.

• Again, this shows the repeated imagery on violent hooded youths on estates shown across various forms of media. Thus, supporting Adorno’s idea that all media is formulaic.
