HOMECOMING VALCOURT 2017 JUNE 2-3-4, 2017
I’m pleased to welcome you to Valcourt, the hometown of BRP and Can-Am Spyder.
As you are about to discover, BRP has developed a strong
centre of expertise in the heart of Québec’s Eastern
Townships. This is where we create market-shaping products
that provide an exceptional experience to our customers,
as we did with the Spyder 10 years ago.
Back in 2007, for the third time in its history, BRP created a
new industry. First came the snowmobiles then the personal
watercraft. And then our team started an industry of
mass-produced three-wheeled motorcycles. Today, the
three-wheel Spyder is more than just a trend, with fans
increasing in number every day, more passionate than ever.
I’m proud to celebrate with you the 10th anniversary of
Can-Am Spyder. For a decade people have discovered the
Y-Factor: the wind-in-your-face freedom, the exhilaration of
the open road and the peace-of-mind they desire. The Spyder
represent a gateway to freedom, adventures and friendships.
This is an historic event. It marks the largest single gathering
of Spyder vehicles ever. All told, there are nearly 3,000
owners in Valcourt from across the globe. Together with our
team members, this group represents some of the most avid
Spyder fans in the world.
At its core, this event is a celebration of you, the Spyder
owner. Without you, none of this would be possible. It’s been
an amazing adventure these past ten years, so let’s celebrate
the freedom of the open road and the sense of community
that comes with owning a Can-Am Spyder.
Here’s to continuing this incredible ride, to meeting new
friends and discovering new places!

Can-Am SpyderBRP has a rich history of creating market-
shaping products. Among the highlights
are the invention of the snowmobile
(1959) and the introduction of the
personal watercraft (1968).
The company applied that same
philosophy when deciding to create an on-
road vehicle. It started in 1996 when three
questions were asked to the BRP design
team: What’s the next big thing for BRP?
How can we leverage our powersports
expertise? How can we create an
alternative vehicle to motorcycles?
And with that, the Can-Am Spyder was
born. It has redefined riding ever since.
Our initial mantra was, “We believe in
a world where everyone can enjoy the
exciting adventure of riding on the open
road.” It still rings true today.
There are more than 100,000 Can-Am
Spyder owners around the world, and
each one is part of something very special
– the global Can-Am Spyder owners’
community. Regardless of where you
ride, every owner is part of that incredible
group, which continues to grow every day.
BRPThe company was incorporated by
Joseph-Armand Bombardier in Valcourt,
Québec, in 1942. Bombardier used his
passion for innovation and ability to solve
mechanical problems to seek a solution
to snowbound winters in Québec.
He patented and produced the first
B7 snow-mobile – a multi-passenger,
enclosed vehicle – in the late 1930s.
Bombardier forged ahead and
subsequently launched the Ski-Doo
snowmobile, creating a new sport in
the process. His innovative spirit lives
on at BRP across all products, including
Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles, Sea-Doo
watercraft, Evinrude outboard engines,
Rotax propulsion systems, Can-Am
off-road vehicles and of course, the
Can-Am Spyder.
Today, BRP products are distributed
in over 100 countries by more than
4,200 dealers and distributors. BRP
employs approximately 8,700 people
worldwide, all with a shared vision to
move people with passion and innovation.

CAN-AM SPYDER TODAY HIGHLIGHTS
BRP’s presence in Valcourt, has expanded greatly since Joseph-Armand Bombardier invented the snowmobile here in 1959. Here are some of the highlights.
from concept to reality at BRP’s Design
& Innovation Centre in Valcourt.
This state-of-the-art facility is where
BRP’s award-winning design team lays
out the steps of the product development
process, from ideation to modeling,
to prototyping and the assembly line.
Museum of Ingenuity J. Armand BombardierThe Museum of Ingenuity J. Armand

of Joseph-Armand Bombardier and
his successors. Technology, design,
entrepreneurship: dive into the world of
innovation, the Bombardier and BRP way.
BRP FactoryThe BRP plant in Valcourt, has come
a long way over the years. It started
in a garage, moved in 1940 to the
building that still stands today as BRP’s
headquarters. Expansion continued
through the second half of the century as
Bombardier introduced more products,
including Sea-Doo personal watercraft in
1968 and Can-Am motorcycles in 1973.
The latest plant is an advanced facility
that produces the Can-Am Spyder in
addition to Ski-Doo snowmobiles.
Product Development CentreBRP opened its newly-renovated R&D
hub in 2016 after a $35 million investment
to modernize the facility so it could
pursue its mission of developing exciting,
safe, high-performance products. This
is where more than 600 engineers,
technicians and professionals work on
tomorrow’s Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo and Can-
Am products.
Centre Design & Innovation Laurent BeaudoinBRP’s design philosophy is to create
highly-innovative, functional and exciting
products that exceed people’s recreational
needs. The Can-Am Spyder is just one
example of that philosophy coming to life
