From the Principal’s Desk...
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the month of April begins, we continue to prepare ourselves for Easter at Holy
Rosary. During these 40 days of Lenten preparation, in addition to our daily pray-
ers, we have prayed weekly at the Stations of the Cross and our Wednesday AM
Prayer Services.
The teachers and I hear stories of what your children are giving up for Lent and
what they are doing for others this Lent. Our Crown of Thorns that is displayed in
the office area is losing its thorns more and more each day. No doubt the crown
will be thorn free by Easter!
Your donations of clothes to the community and your generous contributions to
the Leukemia Pennies for Patients initiative is teaching your children that we are all
responsible for helping those in need. We reverently look forward to the Living Sta-
tions that will be presented by the 8th Grade at St. Titus this year as the finale of our
Holy Rosary Lenten journey.
Please continue what we have taught your children about preparing for Easter by
participating in the Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter services at your parish-
es. We all look forward to rising with Jesus in new life on Easter Sunday. Thank you.
God’s graces to all of you!
Mary Ann

Honors Math
6th Grade Honors Math students are working on a data collection project. They collected data from various class-
rooms and then, will organize and analyze it using different types of graphs and charts.
The entire 8th grade has started designing boats for their cardboard boat project. We hope to start construction
during Terra Nova week!

1st Grade
First Grade has been very busy during the month of March. They have been learning their related facts for addition
and subtraction. They have been talking about the season of Lent and learning about and coloring the Stations of the
Cross. They have also learned about St. Patrick and St. Joseph. On St. Joseph's Day they went to visit the sisters that
live in the convent. They, along with the kindergarten, made St. Joseph's Day cards for them. The sisters invited them
into their chapel and they all talked about Lent and asked questions about the chapel. The sisters were thrilled with
their visit and the children loved it too. They also had a visit from Miss Linda from the William Jeanes Library. She
read them some very funny stories and brought her puppet Miss Lucy with her. The children loved her and hopefully
will have another visit from her in May. They will continue coloring their Easter Egg at night when they do a kind act
during the season of Lent. They are looking forward to being outside now that Spring has arrived
—Mrs. Koneski
2nd Grade
We are happy to announce that all the Second Graders have received their sacrament of Reconciliation! We are so
proud of all of the students and how well prepared they were! We are now beginning to prepare for First Holy
Communion. We are wrapping up our chapter on money in math class. We may have a lot of future bankers and
mathematicians! We will soon begin learning how to tell time!
—Christina Reale and Renee Prieto
Pre-K
March has been a busy and fun month for the Pre-K class! We have been diligently working on ways they can
"follow in Jesus foot steps" during this Lenten season. We had a "Munchkin Meeting" where we got to share our
ideas with Kindergarten and made a craft that is hanging in the hall way across from Mrs. Gilman's office. We have
also been busy learning about various literary elements of a story such as setting, character, character traits, author,
illustrator, and rhyming words. Just to name a few! We really enjoyed wrapping up the month with a STEM-based
activity where we got to make "imaginary animals" out of various recyclable materials. Moreover, we have been
practicing hard on our presentations for our Grand-Friend Day that is taking place in April!
—Mrs. Gill
3rd Grade
Third grade has been working hard! We wrapped up our unit on Area and Perimeter with a Dream House Pro-
ject. Mrs. Gilman featured us in the parish bulletins for the students' hard work in designing their dream homes and
calculating the area and perimeter of each room! In math, we also began working on fractions this month. We had
two more students reach 100% fluency of their 0-10 multiplication and division facts this month, too. Congratula-
tions to Kevin Mansfield and Kate Woods! Great job, you two! For third grade, much of March has been spent dis-
cussing Lent and the events leading up to Easter. The students have created a mini book dedicated to learning the
Stations of the Cross. As we move closer to Easter, we will take time to reflect further on each station and will say
special prayers relative to each one.

Kindergarten
Kindergarten has been busy learning all about the season of Lent. They received Ashes on Ash Wednesday and met
with their Pre-K buddies for a special Munchkin Meeting! We love getting together with our Pre-K friends! We
made stained glass crosses and wrote on a footprint how we can be more like Jesus during this season of Lent. Our
beautiful art work is hanging outside Mrs. Gilman's office for all to see and read! We have been trying very hard to
be more like Jesus every day! We are trying to be kind to our friends and helpful to others :) The kindergarten
students also learned about St. Patrick this month and how he taught the people of Ireland about the Trinity using a
Shamrock! To celebrate St. Patrick's Day the children wrote about what makes them feel lucky. We even worked
on our math skills of addition by making our own pot of gold! Lastly, made Leprechauns to decorate our class-
rooms! They look great hanging up in our classroom!
—Mrs. Pickering
5th Grade Science
Fifth grade STEM is going to a K'Nex competition at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit on Tuesday, April 2,
2019. They designed and built a device using K'Nex that can pick up three objects off the table and move them at
least six inches. They have two hours to rebuild the device at the competition. They also had to draw a blueprint
and complete a cost analysis worksheet about the device. There are two teams from Holy Rosary attending. The
students are Emily Feldman, Emma Hunter, Hannah Lambert, Vickie Lehatto, Ella Peticca, Ava Valleau, and Madison
Whitehead.

Mrs. Luthy’s Classes
As Lent continues, 8th grade begins their practices for the traditional Living Stations. Be sure to come out and sup-
port them as you are taken back to Jesus' final days. Living Stations will take place on Tuesday, April 16 at St. Titus
Church.
7th grade are in the process of creating their own versions of Jesus' Parables. Each will create his/her own modern
parable and present it to the class.
6th grade continues their studies of important people in Salvation History.
5th grade will delve heavily into writing this trimester, and will continue identifying and analyzing story elements by
completing Plot Diagrams to organize their findings. In religion classes, the students have studied many details about
of the parts of the Mass. The students were fascinated about the history behind Father Quindlen's personal vessels,
during a recent lesson with Father, when he explained about vessels, vestments and other lessons learned from the
stained glass in the church.
