It’s great to be back at school! Term 4 at Holsworthy PS is always super exciting with so much to look forward to and anticipate over the next nine weeks. OUR NEW PLAYGROUND IS OPEN FOR PLAY Wow, Wow, and Wow, our new playground area was finally started during the holidays and was in full use on day one of this term. This area really needed a make-over and we are very pleased with the amazing results of this new outdoor learning space and there will be more to come. The students are using this new area to full advantage and enjoying the fitness circuit. The seating areas have been well received with many students taking advantage of this great space and the fabulous umbrellas. There are also raised sandpits for the students and a new outdoor learning space called the ‘story telling’ corner. There is still more work to be completed and hopefully more things to add to make this space enjoyable for students. The term has already started with engaging learning and exciting events taking place. This has so far included a visit from the NRMA road show promoting road safety, the K-2 Athletics carnival to be held on Thursday, followed on Friday night by the P&C’s Disco. The theme this term is Halloween. The K-2 Disco starts at 5:00pm-until 6:00pm followed by the Years 3-6 Disco starting at 6:15pm until 7:15pm. Hoping to see many students there. Parents/Carers please be on time to pick up your children at the conclusion of each of the discos. SCHOOL WORKS During Term 4 there will be a scope of work completed by the Department of Education to replace the roofing, gutters, fascia and downpipes on a number of classroom blocks. During this time classes will be relocated to different areas to ensure student safety. Parents will be informed when this affects their child’s classroom block. LEAVING HOLSWORTHY Once again we would like to request that anyone who knows that their children will be leaving Holsworthy Public School at the end of the year, notify either myself or the office in writing as soon as possible please. This will enable us to work out teachers and classes for 2020. It is a very difficult job and we would greatly appreciate your help.

Principal’s Message
Welcome back to Term 4. It’s great to be back at school! Term 4 at Holsworthy PS is always super exciting with so much to look forward to and anticipate over the next nine weeks.
OUR NEW PLAYGROUND IS OPEN FOR PLAY
Wow, Wow, and Wow, our new playground area was finally started during the holidays and was in full use on day one of this term. This area really needed a make-over and we are very pleased with the amazing results of this new outdoor learning space and there will be more to come. LEAVING HOLSWORTHY
Once again we would like to request that anyone who knows that their children will be leaving Holsworthy Public School at the end of the year, notify either myself or the office in writing as soon as possible please. This will enable us to work out teachers and classes for 2020. It is a very difficult job and we would greatly appreciate your help.
COLOUR RUN Spectacular! In week 3 our school will be holding a COLOUR RUN Spectacular! This event will take place on Monday 28 October and is open to all the students at HPS. The Colour Run Spectacular will consist of a fun run and obstacle course, where students will be covered/have the choice to be covered, in coloured powder. This is the School's major fundraising event for 2019 and we encourage you all to get behind our students to help raise funds for our school.
Students received a Sponsorship Form last term, which provides details on how to raise funds and earn great reward prizes. The money raised will go towards purchasing more technology equipment to support lessons in coding and the new science and technology syllabus.
We look forward to this wonderful and colourful fun day and thank you in advance for your support.
Student Safety Thank you to all parents who are using the Kiss and Drop zone on Huon Crescent and NOT driving into our staff car park. Please help keep our students safe by obeying road traffic requirements and not parking in no-stopping areas. Selective High School in 2021-Year 5 Students Selective High School Expression of Interest notes went home in the last week of Term 3. Parents are reminded that all applications must be made online and applications close on Monday 11th November. Please see Mrs North if you have any questions about applying.

STATE DRAMA FESTIVAL Students in the Drama ensemble have the honour to perform at the upcoming State Drama Festival, held at the Seymour Centre, Thursday 24 October. The ensemble have worked extremely hard this year on their piece ‘Everything I need’ which depicts a young girl and her ‘invisible’ friend who grow apart over time but all the important messages her invisible friend leaves behind are never forgotten.
Students are required to be at school at 7:15am Thursday morning to ensure we will be arriving at the festival on time. They will arrive back at school between 3:00 and 3:30.

MINISTER’S VISIT TO STATE PARLIAMENT AND THE LAND & ENVIRONMENT COURT
Last Wednesday we went to the Land and Environment Court. We met Commissioner Gray, who taught us the roles and what happens in court. We were able to act out the roles that they have in court. After lunch, we went to the NSW Parliament House and had a tour with Melanie Gibbons, the Holsworthy representative. We watched a session of ‘Question Time’ where politicians asked each other questions. They were very rowdy and showed us how Parliament works.
