The old saying – “Plan your run , and run your plan “ – the hard work has been completed, go out, enjoy the experience (especially our novices ), expect some pain, and try to enjoy the day. Please remember – every entrant is very unique and privileged to stand on the start line – there are 50 million plus other South Africans not on the start line, so you are special. To all the families and friends who are “Now over it “, your reward time is just around the corner for all the months of support and care given – well done to you all. Thanks to the arranged talks given and info passed on by the parties involved. Trust everyone is committed to the pasta party, as again the talk to be given should benefit all. Remember June 05 – Kloof Country Club. Thanks to the committee regarding all the Comrades day planning and preparations – it almost seems easier to organise our February marathon. From my side, please will all members make the effort to attend the upcoming 12 July 2018 AGM, keep updated regarding the notice sent out and let’s have a well-attended event. Naturally after Comrades, most members hibernate, enjoy the R&R , but still running can carry on – my personal plug for trails. Join in the Glen Cairns weekend if space is still available, a wonderful event to come. Thanks again to all, run safe and bright, together with “clear ears” – no ipods etc. Rgds Peter B. PLEASE NOTE TIME TRIAL NOW AT 5.45PM

Join us on the 14th July at 6am at HVAC. (Hillcrest Villagers Athletics Club) Come off Old Main Rd up between MacDonalds and KFC and it's in front of you.
Not confirmed yet but training days are usually Saturday mornings at 6am, Tuesday morning early around 5am and Thursday mornings same time. Weekday runs are from Oscars in Hillcrest and Saturday runs change each week. You will get a timetable. We start very slow so it's for everyone!
The cost will be R200 for the programme, cash on day 1, excluding the race on 9th Sept - that is up to you to enter. Look forward to meeting all of you. Time to get off the couch!! – Contact Michelle Donne [email protected]
https://www.facebook.com/HVACcouchto10/ ** STAND A CHANCE TO WIN EVERY WEEK** Every Thursday you stand a chance to win in our new JOKER DRAW. The kitty started with R2500 (sponsored by the club) and the pot will grow as tickets are sold every week for just R10 each. On the night, one name will be drawn and the winner will get to choose a card from a pack. If you draw a JOKER you will win 70% of all the money collected up to and including that Thursday nights win. You have to be there to win and the draw will take place at approx 7pm every Thursday. A member from Benoni Northerns drew the Joker in the second week of 2018 and it had not been won for the entire 2017. She won ....wait for it.... over R300 000.00!!! So let’s have some fun and see how many winners we can get. LETTER FROM A RESIDENT IN HILLCREST This is just a friendly note to ask if you could please advise your runners that do their early morning (4.30am) training along Shongweni Road to please keep their voices down. You can hear their every word, as they are obviously needing to talk above their running breath. This is a residential area and there are school going children and people who need this sleep at this time, who are being highly disturbed by the noise as they run past our units (corner Shongweni and Tunzini). It is extremely disrespectful to the people who do not lead this lifestyle, never mind the children who are now tired for school. I know I may be ranting a bit but it happens most mornings, every week, and there are a few tenants threatening to go to the newspaper about the racket being made by the runners. Anyway, I just wanted to make contact to ask you to please send out a notice, or discuss at your next meet. I can only think that these runners belong to your club if they are running at these hours, possibly preparing for comrade’s. Thank you for your kind and considerate attention to this.
