Addressing Fatigue withOptimized End Dimensional TolerancesIn deep and ultra-deepwater envi-ronments fatigue is a critical issuethat needs to be considered whenselecting tubular materials forany type of riser configuration.In general, risers that meet morestringent dimensional tolerancescan better withstand rigoroussubsea environments. To helpour customers lengthen the lifeof their riser systems, Tenariscan employ several in-houseprocesses to obtain better enddimensional tolerances:

Cold-End Sizing*: Through a controlled deformation processthat actually minimizes the ovalityof pipe ends, Tenaris can achieve+/- 1.2 mm from the agreed inside diameter (ID).

End Machining*: For more critical applications such assteel catenary risers (SCR), Tenaris can guarantee geomet-rical matching of pipe ends accomplishing tolerances of +/- 0.5 mm ID through con-tinuous numeric control (CNC)machining.

Laser Ends Measurement System (LEMS)*: Tenaris offersan automated measurement system that performs a complete dimensional assessment of pipeends, which depending on cus-tomer requirements can coverOD, WT and ID. Resulting Datain electronic format can be used to minimize the hi-low prior to welding.
