I would like to take this op- portunity to wish everyone a safe and happy Easter. I hope the school holidays offer a chance to spend relaxing time with your family and friends before the busy seeding peri- od begins. Thankyou to everyone who came in for parent teacher interviews last week. If you want to follow up at any time, please feel free to make an appointment with your child/ren’s teacher or with me at a time that suits you. Last week I was in Adelaide at the DECD lead- ers days. We saw Minister Susan Close and Pro- fessor Alan Reid who launched the Statement on Public Education. The statement outlines the foundations and characteristics of Public Education in South Australia. These include: Foundations of Public Education: Compulsory and Free, Universal, Secular Characteristics of Public Education: Quality, Equity, Diversity and Cohesion, Collab- oration and Trust, Community, Democracy. The statement reminds us of the importance and the benefits of high quality public educa- tion for the future. We were also privileged to work with Professor Michael Fullan who gave a workshop on the importance of cohesion and collaboration for educational improvement. Karen Stokes Teaching and Learning Staff participated in 2 literacy workshops with Sheena Cameron last week. She inspired us all to continue our journey to improve writing and reading outcomes for our students. Staff are already incorporating her ideas into liter- acy programs and we will collaborate on our programming at the start of term 2 to ensure that we are implementing these ideas across the school.
