Deputy Premier and Treasurer Andrew Fraser said the HIA New Home Sales report showed that growth in Queensland in sales had outstripped all other mainland states. “Queensland is miles in front with an increase of 20.8 per cent, ahead of WA at 4.9 per cent and South Australia, Victoria and NSW all less than 2 per cent,” Mr Fraser said. “More than 2,000 Queenslanders have now lodged applications and those numbers are gaining pace from month to month. “It started off with a slow burn but confidence is improving in the housing market and the Building Boost is only making it easier for buyers to do what they do best. “Lending conditions have been tough since the GFC so an extra $10,000 can provide the extra assistance for a deposit and get a sale over the line. “The RBA’s rate cut this month will further bolster sentiment in coming months; obviously that won’t be reflected in any results for October.” Mr Fraser said while the LNP had been whingeing, whining and waiting for an election victory to fall into its lap, the Bligh Government had developed a plan and set a course for the housing industry and the broader economy. “Private sector investment is going from strength to strength in Queensland with ABS Private New Capital Investment figures recording another historic high at 64 per cent for the 12 months to September,” Mr Fraser said. “Queensland’s future is bright. It is this government that has seen it through some tough time and had the fortitude to make the tough decisions for long term benefits.” Source : Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for State Development and Trade (1 December 2011) For Rent...
