The HTAWS displays the aircraft position with respect to the

surrounding terrain and obstacles. TSO-C151 Compliant, 3 arc/sec Terrain database resolution.

Ergonomics: Situational Awareness

Ergonomics: Situational Awareness

The SVS provides a computer-generated 3D representation of the

external environment, i.e. terrain shape, obstacles, runways and helipads. Use same HTAWS Terrain database.

Ergonomics: Situational Awareness

The EVS (LWIR sensor) provides the thermal representation of

the area in front of the aircraft enhancing the vision capability in low visibility conditions (night, haze, smoke, smog, light fog, etc.)

Page 13: Helitech - Leonardo Helicopters Division: Technology for Safety

Ergonomics: Obstacle Proximity LiDAR System

OPLS inform the pilots and the crew members about the presence of short range obstacles like rocks, trees and buildings during low speed operations.

Visual and audio guidance is based on aircraft safety margin, computed between obstacle profile and the blades profile.

The AW189 can fly in dry run conditions for at least 100 nm, and this distance increases with the reduction of the helicopter weight.

The AW189 certified capacity allows crews to plan diversions in case of dry run condition with the possibility to reach the coast or safer areas for the intervention of rescue teams
