Kevin Murphy (p laywright ) was a producer of the orig inal LA and NY product ions of "Heathers" (Drama Desk nominat ion for music) . He also provided lyrics and co-w rote the book for the stage musical "Reefer Madness" and was a producer on both the orig inal Los Angeles and Off-Broadway product ions. "Reefer" swept the three major Los Angeles theat re awards which included t rip le w ins for Best Musical and Best Score. In New York, Murphy's lyrics were nominated for a Drama Desk Award. He co-adapted "Reefer" into a Show t ime Orig inal movie which premiered at the 20 0 5 Sundance Film Fest ival and screened in compet it ion at the 20 0 5 Deauville Film Fest ival, w inning the Premiere Audience Award. The movie received three Emmy nominat ions, w inning for Outstanding Music & Lyrics. Murphy is current ly showrunner for the AMC historical drama series "The Son" starring Pierce Brosnan. Other TV credit s include "Desperate Housew ives" (Golden Globe w inner, two-t ime WGA Award nominat ion, Emmy nominat ion), "Defiance," "Ed," "Reaper," "Caprica" and "Hellcats." Murphy has co-w rit ten many songs for these shows, most recent ly ?Across the Storm Divide? (recorded by Trace Adkins) and ?Teach This Boy to Fly? (co-w rit ten w ith Laurence O?Keefe), both of which were featured on "Defiance."
Laurence O'Keefe (p laywright ) was a producer of the orig inal LA and NY product ions of "Heathers" (Drama Desk nominat ion for music) . W ith his w ife, Nell Benjamin, he won the Olivier Award (London?s Tony) for co-w rit ing "Legally Blonde: The Musical," which ran 2 1/ 2 years on the West End and has toured the UK. "Blonde" received seven Tony Award nominat ions, had two US nat ional tours and several internat ional product ions and also won Aust ralia?s Helpmann Award for Best Musical. O'Keefe w rote the Off-Broadway smash "Bat Boy: The Musical," which won the Lucille Lortel Award, two Richard Rodgers Awards and the New York Outer Crit ics Circle Award for Best Musical, and has received 50 0 + product ions worldw ide, including the West End, Tokyo, Seoul, Berlin and Edinburgh. O'Keefe has composed music and/ or lyrics for The Daily Show, SyFy?s Defiance, the Disney Channel, PBS and Cirque du Soleil. A graduate of Harvard and USC, O'Keefe teaches master classes at Harvard, Yale, NYU and elsewhere.
Kelly Mart in Mann (d irector) is the stage combat inst ructor for the School of Drama at Universit y of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). She is an actor and f ight d irector as well as a cert if ied teacher w ith the Society of American Fight Directors. Some credit s include The A lliance Theat re, Horizon Theat re, True Colors Theat re, Georgia Shakespeare Fest ival and The A labama Shakespeare Fest ival. She works primarily throughout the Southeast . Mann served as the f ight d irector for the A lliance Theat re?s world premiere of ?Ghost Brothers of Darkland County? w rit ten by Stephen King and John Mellencamp.
BIOGRAPHY
Krisha Marcano (d irector) is the assistant professor of theat re dance and the assistant dean for student affairs and ent repreneurial studies at the UNCSA School of Drama. She brings a personal and ind ividual approach to teaching dance to actors, offering tools, guidance and support . After dancing w ith both The Martha Graham Dance Company and The A lvin A iley American Dance Theat re for the f irst six years of her career, Marcano spent the next seventeen years on Broadway in hit s like ?Fosse? (1st nat ional tour) ; Disney's ?A ida;? ?Sweet Charit y;? ?Motown;? and orig inated the role of Squeak in Oprah W infrey?s ?The Color Purp le? (20 0 5). In 20 0 8, Marcano received a Commendat ion from the Cit y of New York for her last ing cont ribut ions to both the Caribbean American community and New York Cit y. She went on to earn her MBA in Ent repreneurship from Kenney College and launched The Art ist ry Center in 20 16 to help performing art ist s w ith art ist ic and ent repreneurial wellness.
