Heart pumping and blood flow through the heart

Page 2: Heart presentation

How blood flows- Superior Vena Cava collects

blood from upper body- Inferior Vena Cava collects

blood from lower body- Blood enters right atrium, the

moves to right ventricle- Goes through the Pulmonary

valve then through the Pulmonary Artery into the lungs to oxygenize the blood

- Blood returns through the pulmonary vein into the left atrium

- Blood moves into the left ventricle

- Blood moves into the Aortic valve and then through the Aorta

How the Heart beats

Page 4: Heart presentation

Diastole and Systole

The atria and ventricles relax (Diastole)

Right and left atria fill with blood (Diastole)

Blood then moves into the ventricles (Systole)

Ventricles contract pushing blood out of heart (Systole)

Page 9: Heart presentation

Are they dangerous Not all the time

Common in children

Doctor will once here a heart murmur

Some are dangerous

Ecg electrocardiogram what?

A machine that records the heart beat

It detects heart electrical pulses

It records your heart beat to see if there are any problems

Page 11: Heart presentation

Why do we use it

To tell if there are heart problems

Heart is beating too fast or slow

If one is on medicine a doctor can see how well the medicine is

Diseases, effects of heart medicine

To record the thickening (heart)

Page 12: Heart presentation

How does it work?

It records your heart pulse

the doctor will place up to 12 electroloides to the body

Test will be taken with rest

If coronary arterie disease is suspected then test will be taken on a bike

Test may be stopped early

May feel chest pain
