Leonie Byrne, PrincipalSCHOOL SECURITY AUDITThe safety of your children is paramount in all public schools.

At Tamworth South we have been reassessing school security and are working with the school safety and security directorate to install security cameras at our Woodward Avenue gateway so people can be identified prior to entry.

From Monday all gates, Petra Avenue, Kent Street and the carpark gate will be locked at 9:30am and then unlocked at 2:45pm. Between these hours all visitors are required to report to the office on arrival and must enter via the Woodward Avenue gateway. I realise this may cause some angst if you forget about the new arrangements for which I apologise in advance. As discussed at our recent P&C meeting the security of our school is paramount and non-negotiable.

STUDENT VOICEOn Wednesday I had the pleasure of having lunch with our school captains Jack, Tex, Jules and Molly. We discussed a range of topics including bullying, playground enhancement ideas and security. The maturity of these young people, their ability to share and express their opinions was most impressive. I look forward to implementing some of their ideas and to our next meeting.

On Harmony Day the students and staff raised $510.00 for the Guide Dog association.

On Monday, Phillip Tilley and his wonder guide dog, Nelson, along with ladies from the Guide Dog association came to our school assembly.

Phillip spoke about Nelson and the wonderful job he does. Some students and staff were able to see the change in Nelson when his harness was removed. Nelson definitely knew the difference between play and work.

They couldn't wait to try them.

Recipe 2 tablespoons of butter 2 tablespoons of sugar3 tablespoons of SR flour 1 egg1 teaspoon vanilla essence MethodMix butter and sugar together until it is creamy.Add the self-raising flour slowly to the mix. Then add the egg and mix together. Finally add 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence and mix well.

We cooked them in an electric pop cake machine and an electric shape maker.

You can easliy put the mixture into a cupcake tray and bake them in the oven. Moderate heat shouls be used.

At lunchtime we ate them all up and they were delicious.
